If developing your career is a consideration then Everton would be a good choice.
He would play most weeks, learn to improve his game and in time if Everton can't match his ambitions he would still be young enough to move to a club who could.

Looking at other young strikers who have gone to big clubs in high profile moves and struggled badly should be a warning.

All I wanted was for us to be in the mix and really sell themselves. Looks like we’re doing that. If he and up at a CL club, it is what it is but at least we didn’t concede without even having a go. With the World Cup next year, I really think us being able to offer first team football would be a very intriguing aspect to playing here
That's a good point mate

£30 mil is a low fee for a striker with an obviously higher ceiling than his first impressive PL season
what is our budget? I imagine it is a lot more than £30mil given our recent transfer spends, PSR safety and Friedkin restructuring of the debt

Agreed - it is a low fee. I feel that’s the main reason why so many clubs are after him. Chelsea and United in particular will see the value and class him as an investment just as much as a player to contribute to their success

Anyone else find “presented the project” proper cringeworthy?

We shouldn’t be trying to compete with Man Utd and Chelsea for players as they can offer silly money.

We should be looking overseas and in the lower leagues for little known or un-fancied players with upside.
He has a 30m release clause, it's down to him who he joins, the only thing we could offer him is more game time compared to the likes of Chelsea and anyone who goes to utd at the moment is committing self-sabotage.

He must be at least considering the possibility of coming here to even bother agreeing to talk to us, so it seems a bit daft to think we shouldn’t even bother trying.

Wages will be influential, and I guess that’s what @14_dollars means about competing as much as anything.
Zirkzee was what 22 /23 when Utd gave him a £105k per week contract
Like wise Yoro supposedly on £115k per week.

Man U throw mad money at young unproven players.

Players jump at the chance of going to the big clubs so soon don’t they, and the big clubs hoover up the young talent. He’s 22 and already had years at City and now will probably join Chelsea or United.

Gone are the days of an Ian Wright playing 200 games for Palace, or a John Barnes playing 200 times for Watford.

I’ll say one thing for him, £30m is a fair bit for a young lad who isn’t the finished article yet. Expect his agent will be after £100k / week minimum to come here too.

If and it’s a big IF he comes here, I can’t wait for the groans after his 4th or 5th match when he’s miss controlled / directed a pass or not scored his 2nd goal yet.

when did you start watching football?

£30 mil now is circa £10m around the time we signed AJ and Yak

Good deal imo

Power of really big money - for the kids they're getting offered mega contracts, more than the non-european teams can give them. For the club they know if the player doesn't work out they know they can almost recoup their money by selling to clubs like us and go out and buy someone for £60m instead
