2024/25 Beto

Undisputedly the best striker at the club today.

That's quite the turn around.

Even his biggest haters are having to eat crow and admit, begrudgingly, that he's the most effective goalscorer we have.

Oh, I know some of you long for the days when we didn't score goals but the lay offs, headers and hold up play were magnificent.... But this is Beto's Everton where we focus on scoring goals and winning matches.

I think with a full season as first choice, he can reliably hit 10-15 goals. That's something we've not had in years.

He's not perfect, but he's effective enough in the short to medium term for me. I'd look at buying a younger prospect who can grow into the role and take over in time, rather than blowing a massive chunk of our budget on another striker this summer.
Isn’t this what Chermiti is supposed to be?
Still waiting to know if that’s possible

If Beto scored 10 to 15 goals next season. That would more than justify his fee and wages. He does what all good strikers do he gets in the position to score, bring a save out the goalie or miss. Think of all the opportunities he brought a save out or missed since he has been in the team and the think about how little DCL was in those postions.I also qualify this for DCL by looking at the previous management regimes

In theory I think so-theres been flashes of ability when he gets on the pitch. But he hasn't played enough to really judge imo, especially since his injury. I'm kinda hoping he goes on loan next year for regular football.

Perhaps might be more realistic to go for someone on loan like Broja, but with the ability to play more than 3 games without getting injured.

Whatever happens, I wouldn't be dropping any major money on a striker this summer with Beto here.

….in the video released by the club, during the lap of honour fans started singing his name and he says; ā€œwhy meā€.

It’s a good question and might even be part of the DCL controversy. It’s funny how fans take to certain players. DCL was once one of the rising stars of English football, an Everton no9 but you feel the fans have never fully taken him to their hearts yet we have Beto with all his failings yet he’s increasingly popular.

Why me he said, it’s a funny old game.

We've had lots of strikers who haven't been anywhere near world beaters but the crowd have take to them.Joe Harper,Straq,Bernie Wright etc.As with Beto they left It all on the pitch.

We love a trier. The Strac-Attack, Prince Niasse, and now Beto.

I think with Dom he's a victim of the club's mismanagement forcing him into a more important position as the starting striker then he's actually qualified for. We all accept Beto right now but if we had a few seasons of him I'm sure it would be similar to what Dom's getting. I mean Beto was already getting stick from certain quarters from day 1.

I was frustrated when we went into Koeman's second season with him as our only genuine striker (Rooney's legs were finished) as it was far too much expectation and responsibility and quite frankly I didn't think he was good enough. Allardyce buys Tosun, who scored a couple but was accepted to be useless. Marco brought in Richarlison and Kean and that took the pressure off again.

Under Carlo he proved his doubters wrong and showed he was actually more than capable of hitting double figures as a starting striker and people were quite delighted with him. He then gets injured and a series of bad managers and fitness issues while the club's on it's arse making him the only hope for goalscoring and he struggled for four seasons.

Four seasons is a lot of football and the rest of the team being crap while we relied on him to change it and he couldn't has brought us here. Beto comes in and bags some goals after Dom struggles for fitness (again) and had struggled for goal scoring while starting every week and the Evertonians have a new shiny talisman to get behind.

And I bet that meant the world to the lad

Wears his heart on his sleeve. That always goes over well. He's also made it very clear how delighted he is to be here, that helps too.
