Non League Football

It’s the rent on the ground that is crippling to a club at this level. That’s why getting the ground move was so important, but the corrupt council stood in the way and put roadblocks in front of us for 2 years. They did the same with Widnes Vikings, rinsed them for extraordinary rent and have ended up effectively killing that club.

Crowds are growing, had a record average attendance last season. But we need to get away from that ground and escape the vice like grip of the corrupt scum Halton Borough Council.

Anywhere will do at this stage.

Awful upu couldn't get the Corpy club over the line.

Surely has to he somewhere within the town boundaries.

I know it's killed the Purps. I'd be surprised if they can survive the season if they remained there

I know of a couple of other sites that they’ve definitely looked at. But we need a proper statement from the chairman on what the plans are.

I can’t see Purps staying at the stadium this season, they’ll end up sharing with Burscough or someone. No way a counties team can afford that rent, Widnes couldn’t when we were a counties side.

Breaking News!

I’ve agreed to be a sponsor of Thornton Cleveleys again for next season in the NWCL.

My business gets a mention every game on their socials etc as sponsor of their man of the match award.

It’s no Hill Dickinson like but good advertising for me I think 😊

In the spirit of "Hill Dickinson Stadium" thread....

BOOOOOOOOO

(Great news btw)

Good news today for Dudley Town FC who play in the Midlands Prem division, it's been 40 years since they last had their own ground. A mine shaft opened up on the pitch in 1985 so the Council closed the ground down due to safety reasons and later sold it to the Viliage Hotel chain. They have played 7 mile away at Willenhall Town FC for many years but it was proposed in Parliament today that they have managed to find a site where a new Stadium can be built. It's still a secret to where it is but it's been said its in DudleyTown and not in the Borough of Dudley so will be good.

What a mess @MikeH72

I’ve been involved in kids sport for a long time mate, both rugby and footy and although I’ve never experienced anything on this scale, I’ve known of similar things happen many times on a smaller scale.

My eldest lads club went from two teams in each age group to ten and it almost stops being fun for the kids to becoming a full time business, being run by dads and mums who had no idea what they were getting into.

That’s without the social media stuff, which can be as vile as anything you will see on the likes of Twitter.

The transparency is fantastic.

From the chairmans perspective I feel utterly sad for him.

Setback after setback.

Then this; i dont know much about it, or kids clubs either... but feels they cannot win regardless. The vile comments are disgraceful though, some real bad eggs in the world.

Once something voluntary starts growing like that, it needs people with the proper knowledge of admin, accounting etc, as it can become a monster to control and things can quickly spiral out of control, like what appears to have happened here.

Also when it comes to their kids, seemingly rational and sensible people, can become absolute nightmares.
