Messymascot's faith in humanity and ginger safe haven

So many Priests over the years have shuddered coming to my Parish but been moved to tears on leaving. It can’t be easy waiting on the instruction to move elsewhere after bonding with everyone over time.

Wasn’t his little Chapel just beautiful! Quite the accomplished artist as well as a craftsman.

Truth be told, I have thought of little else bar Father Johannes since watching it.
I fully understand that feeling as I too have thought many times about the program with him in particular having an impression ,I do like the naive way Fogle approaches these people ,everything is a pleasing surprise . Johannes' chapel is a work of art ,sufficient to be remembered by ,whatever his other marks on life are .

That is a skill in itself. I will watch more of this series now but a high bar is set.

@jazzy

Hill Dickinson- what’s your opinion on it?
Half of me isn’t bothered as I probably will always refer to it as Bramley Moore inspite of the slavery connection and the other half isn’t that impressed. It doesn’t trip off the tongue, and I think I was expecting more of a global brand.
My only experience of them is attending the really good seminars they used to run on legal issues and case law relating to brain injury.
Interested to see what @jazzy thinks too

I'm cool with it.

I know or should I say knew Hill Dicks very, very well.

As a claimant solicitor they were my opponent in probably 75 % of the cases that I litigated.

They had a stellar reputation and I know many of the partners quite well.

I'm surprised that they have stumped up so much money but , there you go.

The name of the new stadium is a bit crap but who cares as long as we get the Dosh.

I don’t know them at all which surprises me. Probably should’t either really unless either of us branches out.

Their tenure in the City and their money seals it for me though.

If it had been Toyota or similar then we would still see complaints re branding. It’s all cosmetic now. We built the ground now it needs paying for.

Good morning all on this damp day here .I hope all are well and had a good night. Regarding the naming rights I side with @jazzy -show us the money whatever your name- is after all we were going to have a Russian steel company ,it is though a shame they haven't got a logo that could be used .The fact is they have the right -see that -to cal it what they want and time will tell if they manage to change it from BMD to HDS .
I suspect Jazzy might just be in one of the corporate boxes sooner rather than later .
I wonder if TFG have decided that they can stage things in The Grand Old Lady as well ? Why knock her down when she can be used as a venue and raise more income ,a shame our old accountant got carried away with the romantic side of it all .
There is a lot going on with the leaving of her but I am absolutely sure the memories will suffice once the fans are installed in the new stadium and they get used to the food on offer .
With the change in climate I suggested to the club that the steps at the riverside could be used as a venue for pop up artists to show their acts with the fans on the steps and them staged near the press buildings so they will be able to have the river as a backdrop .I didn't go into it any deeper but EG Joe blogs hires the place for next week as the forecast is good so they sell a limited number of tickets and do that on one of the ticket sites which can be done in days .Thoughts on a post card ,it was Fred and his music that inspired the thought .
Edit
I just imagined a few poppets playing with their backs to the river .

We banked Cuff Roberts and most of the partners were my clients. When the Halliwells merger happened it turned out to be much more of an acquisition with alot of the functions moving to Manchester. Many of the Liverpool staff, including some of the solicitors, moved to Hill Dicks taking clients with them. Two of my clients, who retained partnership status at Halliwells, subsequently followed them. Many Liverpool based commercial clients didnt like being serviced out of Manchester and transferred their business too. I know HD worked very hard on this happening.

The acquisition turned into a financial nightmare for Halliwells having lost a lot of the income that made the business model work. So I thought it was karma when HD onboarded Halliwells. Everybody raised a few eyebrows when they took the whole of that new office on Old Hall Street but they pretty much tripled their business in just a few years.

I must admit I was gobsmacked when I saw they were sponsoring BMD so I googled them and couldn't believe how much they had grown since I retired. They are a real success story for the city of Liverpool completely bucking the trend of other prominent local businesses over the last 100 years. I can't think of anyone better to be the first sponsor of our new ground. I think it's an absolutely inspired move by our new owners and totally in line with our ethos of being a local club. I think it's brilliant.

Great post Fred.

Be good if you could re post on the main forum to assuage some of the ridiculous doubts and counter the idiotic issues being raised.

Strange that Anj - for me " lightly dusted place" is my explanation for my pitiful attempts at housework which I will do this morning.

Morning everyone!

Safe journey for everyone that is travelling today or tomorrow, I know there are at least 3 of you.

@Terrarian not heard from you in a while mate. Hope the migraines aren't too bad ( which is a contradiction in itself)

Now that Goodison is being retained as a stadium and available to visit next season some of the high emotion has gone out of Sunday but it's still the end of an era. I think that I will still go to Goodison on Sunday but not sure .

Have a lovely day everyone.
Hi jazzy and everyone, I'm ok, same old same old, gets a bit monotonous doing nothing all the time apart from walking Daisy. I mentioned it to the therapist as it also makes me feel like a waster loser for not working. Constantly getting sick shamed on news outlets. They love bashing the sick and infirm, the most vulnerable people in society. It gets to me as I feel everyone looks down on me because I have ailments.

Is anyone going tomorrow? Hopefully it's a great day.

The name BMD may be associated with slavery but it was before our time, we're constantly made to feel we owe reparations for something out of our control. I often wonder if the Spanish, Portuguese, French and Dutch get the same hassle, people seem to forget they were all at it. Hill-Dickinson isn't a great name though is it 😂
