Homepage Article Goodison Park to become the permanent home of Everton Women

I doubt very much that they will. If anything, the old Leitch stands are structurally over-engineered to hold far bigger capacity than they do now (hence the numerous obstructed views). As Simon Inglis stated recently, they would comfortably last for generations longer, if allowed to. File this with all the previous lies about the impending failures of safety certificates..... (20yrs on, and still counting). You might also file it with the assurances made to the Shareholders that he would fund the stadium to completion if finances could not be secured.

If there has been any structural deterioration identified requiring additional or replacement "pillars", that would have to be implemented before a safety cert was granted, not by a predetermined date. However, even if that was the case.... LFC fitted additional supports to their old Anfield Rd stand upper tier after Celtic fans almost buckled it, at minimal cost. It's just another throw away line with little or no substance.

Just let it go pal. Never known someone to be so obsessed with a few criss crosses on a crumbling stand.

Hmmm.

Yeah I must admit, the desire to paint the club basically saying 'Do you want this hand me down stadium that we've decided is massively outdated and no longer fit for purpose' as being some sort of revolutionary forward thinking idea that shows a massive commitment to the women's team is a bit strange.
You do know that they were playing on WHP in a 2k capacity ground. This is a massive leap and superior to all other dedicated Women's football club stadia.... by a big margin.

I think it is you who has to let it go.... the decision has been made fotr all the obvious reasons. The stand who's name you post in is not crumbling at all.... and is staying! Get over it 😉

I do yes tom. You do know that doesn’t really have anything to do with what I was saying?

It is precisely about what you were saying. Why would their requirements be the same as the men's team? GP's inadequacies for the men's team (ie low capacity and corporate provision), bares no relation to the women's team requirements. GP more than satisfies those needs.

My point was in context to the post I was replying to.

This is a convenient move for all parties, it’s not a massive benevolent move by the new owners or a prioritisation of the women’s team, it’s an easy thing to do. As I said, that doesn’t make it a bad thing, it’s just worth noting that the angle done people are coming from isn’t really accurate that’s all.

Tom, I honestly love your passion for goodison but it's time to say goodbye.

Think about the younger generation.

Why say Goodbye when "see you later" sounds and feels so much better?

I am thinking of the youngsters, and future generations too.... they all deserve to be able to visit their club's ancestral home too. As does anyone else interested in Football/stadium history. The ladies also deserve their opportunity too. This decision allows all of that to happen, several birds, one stone. Let's at least give it a chance. Then Everton FC can have the two best stadiums in the city. The most historic and the most modern in the country.....

Tom one of my best friends runs a structural engineering firm goodison has used and they've confirmed it's being ran into the ground.

They may have been only doing remedial work prior to this decision, for all the obvious reasons, but there are no moving parts to "run into the ground". If it isn't structurally sound, it won't receive its safety certificate. Evidently it has. The club claimed similar all those years ago, only for it to be then refuted by the very person who actually issues the safety cert.

Tom I give up with you. Your sentimental mindset is clouding any sort of sense.

I'll happily provide you with some proof via DM.
