The Now-Irrelevant 2024/25 Relegation Battle (Without Everton!)

are there any obvious relegation candidates for next year other than the promoted clubs?

got to assume united and spurs will improve

west ham havent been great but if they keep hold of the likes of Paqueta, Bowen, Kudus that feels like a bit too much quality

wolves look much improved under Pereira

hopefully we’re kicking on!

crystal palace have 4 players that would walk into most sides in the league

and then fulham, brighton, brentford, bournemouth etc seem too settled and too well drilled sides to fall into that. unless say the later sell some of their stars, lose iraeloa

be horrible if it becomes a closed shop

The likes of Fulham, Brighton, Brentford and Bournemouth are all doing well now, but it is heavily reliant on nailing recruitment and keeping their managers. A decade ago Southampton were lauded in the same way, look at them now. I'm sure there's plenty of other examples too over the years; West Brom, Swansea and Stoke all managed to establish themselves off the top of my head. One off year with recruitment, a manager moving on etc and they can easily spiral back downwards. Forest and one of those four (or Palace) will be in Europe next season too which will be a struggle for their smaller squads and they will slip down the table.

It also depends on how well the promoted clubs prepare. Last time Burnley didn't even try to stay up, just spent a fortune on young prospects and stubbornly played an open system that got them destroyed. If they are more sensible this time, they might have more of a chance. Leeds? Who knows with them. I don't see Sunderland/Sheff Utd having a chance though.

Remember all of the flapping one of the bottom 3 might catch us, as it stands the nearest team to us in the bottom 3 are 20 points behind us. 😂
Man United can't catch, neither can Spurs. And if West Ham don't turn this 2-0 deficit around, neither can they. Just need Wolves to drop some points now.
