Homepage Article Goodison Park to become the permanent home of Everton Women

The more i think about it the more i hate this.

Goodison should be remembered for what it is, the doors should be closed forever after the weekend.
Having it for the women's game where they wouldn't even fill half of the park end is just daft IMO.

Its stood for over 120 years of unbelievable history of generations and packed out for the majority of this time.

Its Evertons men's home ground and it shouldn't be remembered for anything else IMO.

Maybe because i personally don't have any interest in the woman's game or Evertons U21s U18s, i couldn't tell you one player from any of these teams.
I dont watch womens football, i dont watch U21 U18 football, it does nothing for me.

Ive already attended my last game at Goodison (Chelsea 0-0)

I will never step foot in there again even if its there for another 40 years.

The park end will eventually become the Ladies "Main stand". Pitch will be turned side on and the current main stand and bullens will be demolished/redeveloped. Will happen over a few years. That's what i have heard. Makes sense in that the park end is a newer stand with better concourses and hospitality.
seems like an expensive option when the lower tiers could just remain and be re-roofed.

I'd rather Goodison remain a football ground that is still associated with the club than be knocked down for some identikit flats/apartments.

'Its Evertons men's home ground and it shouldn't be remembered for anything else IMO.'

If you know your history, and all that jazz.

I can't imagine that being the case. Reports suggested that there'll be no work done for at least 5 years so I very much doubt they've already decided what work they'll do at that point (also by that point the Park End - which absolutely doesn't have better facilities at all anyway - will be 35 years old and in no way modern).

"In 1920, the Dick, Kerr Ladies played St Helens Ladies at Goodison Park in front of a crowd of 53,000, a record that would last for just under 100 years. Feels extremely appropriate that Everton should choose to make it the new home of their Women’s Team. Superb from The Toffees."

Half the Euro winning England team came through Everton. Currently they have some cracking players, and repeatedly smash the RS everywhere. I've watched women's games there with mates, with my daughters, it obviously doesn't feel the same as cheering on the 1st team, but feels the same as cheering on the u21's- still Everton 🙂
I like the fact it will still be used for an Everton football team.

Even 25k seems a bit much imo. I get wanting to be ambitious for the womans game but they normally average 2k a match. Even if they quadrupled their attendance it would still be more then half empty. I truly think that maintaining the Park End with its capacity just shy of 6k and turning the Gwladys St, Bullens Rd and Goodison Rd stands into smaller scale old school style terraces is the way to go. We'd end up with an 8 or 9k purpose built stadium that looked incredible and had the land and space to expand when/if the demand becomes big enough for it. That would leave room that could used for Everton in the community projects in the meantime.
Sounds about right
