New Everton Stadium - Hill Dickinson Stadium

That's a good question, and one I'd be interested in too. A loose calculation would be that the Bullens is fairly equally distributed -between 40-60% I'd guess.

That would reduce the attendance by about 5,000 fans. I guess the Street End is closer to a 70% split, so I think it would drop another 3-4k.

The Main Stand... do they mean just close the Top Balcony? I doubt they would get rid of the Main Stand in general because it has most of the hospitality.

So, I'd guess it would be closer to 30k in general - may a wee bit less - however that is only rough assumptions, without real numbers.

On another note...

...is anyone a wee bit deflated (is that the right word) now about Sunday? I didn't want to lose Goodison, but the importance of the day won't be the same.
I don`t think the news Goodison will be staying on as the ladies home will take anything away from the emotion of Sunday. A lot of folks may never head up to Goodison again after the Southampton game, and never have that buzz many of get going to games in the future the same way as they would have when going to a big game at Goodison. It`ll be a while before BMD starts to feel the same way to lots of us as Goodison has done for many years.

Think that's a bit of a stretch, tbh. There's plenty on here that thought finishing 17th was a great achievement and constantly bang on about stability being their main goal. That smacks of being happy to be here to me, imo. On the plus side, not one of them asked for a stadium-top swimming pool where you can't even see the pitch!
After the last 3 years of course stability is good. I meant more if we kept finishing 12th for say next 5 years be lot of questions of the club not progressing

Surely, surely it’s nonsense. It would be swarming with activity if things were tight, money no object.

And if it’s not, let 20,000 into BMD into whichever stands have working bogs and Korean chicken outlets, dust off that big screen at Goodison I watched us beat the RS on in 87 (I think) and cram 30000 onto Goodison for a couple of weeks. Bring your own deckchair.

(Who scored in that one? Stephen’s?)
Interesting now that Goodison is staying intact. That big screen could now get some more use. Goodison as overspill for big ticket games at BMD. Open the Street end and sell drinks. No away fans, minimal stewarding/policing required.

Looking on wiki and it says the stand capacities are as follows - If we apply the rough ratios then.

Goodison Road (main) stand - 12,664 * 0.7 = 8,865 (upper balcony mothballed)
Bullens Road - 10,546 * 0.5 = 5,273 (upper Bullens mothballed)
Gwladys Street End - 10,611 * 0.7 = 7,428 (upper Gwladys mothballed)
Park End - 5,750 = same

That'd bring capacity down from 39,571 to 27,316
I wouldn't be surprised if on the main stand that only the family enclosure and corporate area is kept with the seats either side of the corporate mothballed too. That'd reduce things down by another 2-4k.
So the women's stadium spec of GP would be approx. 23-25k - around 10x WHP.

Love how you can see the stadium from the lock up.

Hi Steve...Any chance of just extending Sandhill platform first please mate.

Thanks

Tbf, if this gets built, its likely to be on the Costco land as thats where the HS2 station was going to be. Allows for a tunnel under the Mersey and coming in over the Wirral. Another terminal station but serving the North of the city. If only we'd not closed Exchange station......

That would be a transport hub, with connections right across the city.

Sandhills additional capacity would be great initialy though, and much quicker/cheaper.

Some quotes from this article

“While no stands will be knocked down and the structure of Goodison Park is expected to remain intact for at least the next five years, major upgrades to player and fan facilities will take place, including to the dressing rooms and the addition of women’s toilets.”

“The plan is to close off the upper tiers of Goodison Park, creating an intimate dome around the pitch. The club say that the capacity will be flexible. Banners, flags and other branding could be used to cover the empty upper tiers, while seats will be sold as close to the pitch as possible first, then moving backwards to meet demand.”

Does anyone know what the capacity would be if the upper tiers are closed off?

"and the addition of women’s toilets.” haha

This is now being reported on BBC and I was surprised see them say "With a capacity of 39,572, Goodison Park will now be the largest dedicated women's football stadium in the country."

Surely they don't intend to maintain a ground the size of Goodison just for the women's team? I thought for sure they'd reduce the capacity. With the best will in the world it's going to be a very long time before they can get regular full houses for WSL games there. Maybe with shrewd ticket pricing and for games like the derby they might be able to get close but seems like rather a large maintenance liability just for the ladies team (possibly U21s etc too?).

For what it's worth, I am very supportive of women's football and have coached my daughter's team from U5 to U14s. I have absolutely no issue with EFC ladies playing at Goodison other than I currently can't see the viability of the business case 🤷‍♂️
they will maintain it if united are going to play there, for mega money:cool:

Keeping GP provides a back up if the rumoured delays to BMD are true.
I’ve been told that BMD is 90% on track so hopefully they’ll get it done in time including safety certification etc.
Not ideal but apparently there are a number of LOR issues that will need resolving such as the concrete is cracking because they dried it too quick.
The recent pitch relay was not in the original plans - it was required because the foundations weren't deep enough to hold rugby posts.
BMD was 90% complete about 8 months ago, so nice of somebody to give you that scoop 😀 Did they tell you what concrete they were referring to???? Vast majority of BMD concrete was pre fabricated off site, and brought to site. There is more chance of Katie Price retiring her fanny, than there is of Everton ever playing another prem game at Goodison after Sunday.
