Is your house a depreciative asset?
What is this prohibitive maintenance cost, people keep mentioning without ever quantifying? Sounds a bit like the empty threats about safety certs not being granted by the previous regime all those years ago, only to be proven completely false. As Simon Inglis said at the recent Shareholders forum, the old Leitch stands are generally massively over-engineered structures that will comfortably last for another 100yrs, if allowed.
Is renting a tiny ground (or 2) sustainable, or more beneficial? Is having to build a whole new stadium for the women, that you may not even own sustainable? The women need their own venue and this will have to be addressed sooner rather than later.
What about the opportunity costs of preserving things of historic value, our presence in our heartland? Saving on building a whole new women's stadium? At present it all sounds a bit like that old adage about people knowing the price of everything, but the value of nothing.
We can only assume that the owners know all of those figures and have done their sums. If the numbers don't pan out, they've at least took full advantage of a free hit, and the site will not have depreciated in value in the meantime.
It's not the whole seat which is being soldi dont understand why people are confused about seats
they are selling them for £90 plus postage
there is no way on earth that an order of lets say 15-20,000 plastic seats to replace them is costing £90 per seat
they will be replaced very easily and affordably
Keep the Park end (with new seats since they're is flogging the old ones!) and remodel the rest of the place so that can be expanded if there is enough demand for it. The Park end alone has close to a 6k capacity. Smaller Gwladys, Bullens and Goodison road stands could take the overall capacity to somthing like 8 or 9k. That's more than enough. It would be quality and leave plenty of room for other Everton in the community projects and hubs.
If it ever got to the stage that a ladies game needed a venue for a big fixture, they can play it at BMD, with both grounds very much part of the club. A smaller football ground at Goodison could leave plenty of room for community facilities to be built around the existing site. Apart from their stadium do the RS have any other areas where they have a presence in the local community (apart from the city center stores as they are there to fleece tourists of their hard earned cash)?I would have thought remodelling the ground and reducing its capacity and improving sight lines would be the way to go.
Do the women’s team need a 39k stadium ? It would be better in a refurbished 25k GP with better comfort and facilities in my view
Just an opinion
Even 25k seems a bit much imo. I get wanting to be ambitious for the womans game but they normally average 2k a match. Even if they quadrupled their attendance it would still be more then half empty. I truly think that maintaining the Park End with its capacity just shy of 6k and turning the Gwladys St, Bullens Rd and Goodison Rd stands into smaller scale old school style terraces is the way to go. We'd end up with an 8 or 9k purpose built stadium that looked incredible and had the land and space to expand when/if the demand becomes big enough for it. That would leave room that could used for Everton in the community projects in the meantime.I would have thought remodelling the ground and reducing its capacity and improving sight lines would be the way to go.

Looking on wiki and it says the stand capacities are as follows - If we apply the rough ratios then.
Goodison Road (main) stand - 12,664 * 0.7 = 8,865 (upper balcony mothballed)
Bullens Road - 10,546 * 0.5 = 5,273 (upper Bullens mothballed)
Gwladys Street End - 10,611 * 0.7 = 7,428 (upper Gwladys mothballed)
Park End - 5,750 = same
That'd bring capacity down from 39,571 to 27,316
I wouldn't be surprised if on the main stand that only the family enclosure and corporate area is kept with the seats either side of the corporate mothballed too. That'd reduce things down by another 2-4k.
So the women's stadium spec of GP would be approx. 23-25k - around 10x WHP.
Some quotes from this article
“While no stands will be knocked down and the structure of Goodison Park is expected to remain intact for at least the next five years, major upgrades to player and fan facilities will take place, including to the dressing rooms and the addition of women’s toilets.”
“The plan is to close off the upper tiers of Goodison Park, creating an intimate dome around the pitch. The club say that the capacity will be flexible. Banners, flags and other branding could be used to cover the empty upper tiers, while seats will be sold as close to the pitch as possible first, then moving backwards to meet demand.”
Does anyone know what the capacity would be if the upper tiers are closed off?

Why Everton are moving the women’s team into Goodison Park
Everton's US owners quickly identified moving the women's team into Goodison Park would be viable – and plan on restoring former glorieswww.nytimes.com
There is a ton of spare seats actually at Goodison Park behind the scences. that it seems not many people know aboutAre we allowed to buy our seat still? Haha
I do think some people are maybe overestimating potential attendances. The average for the WSL is under 7,000 and half the league average under 5,000. Even Arsenal who are always used as the example of big crowds have had attendances under 6,000 for 13 of the 23 homes games they've played this season. I'm not saying it's impossible but there is a lot of work to be done to be getting anywhere near needing a 25,000 capacity.Even 25k seems a bit much imo. I hope not.The park end will eventually become the Ladies "Main stand". Pitch will be turned side on and the current main stand and bullens will be demolished/redeveloped. Will happen over a few years. That's what i have heard. Makes sense in that the park end is a newer stand with better concourses and hospitality.
100% agree. The whole thing about wanting to go to Goodison won't hold a larger audience. One or two games a season during international breaks might do better but realisticly, If a couple thousand more people decide to regularly attend the woman's game (which would definitely be a good thing) purely for the venue then we'd at best still just be looking at 4 to 5k.I do think some people are maybe overestimating potential attendances. Given the media PR around the final men’s game at the the ground with it being handed over to women I wonder if there’s an opportunity to get the stadium sponsored.Made up with this to be honest.
Key thing for me the ground remains a part of the club, still a living breathing, functioning part of our past, present and future.
In years to come young blues can go visit the ground, do tours etc - if you know you’re history.
Means we continue to have a community presence in L4.
Brilliant recognition for the Women’s team.
Means the auspicious of maintaining the statues and all the legacies around Goodison remain with the club to safeguard. Didn’t want the site to be handed over or abandoned by the club to a private developer other council!
