Homepage Article Goodison Park to become the permanent home of Everton Women

I think ultimately it’s great that football will still be played on the site. But hope that, in five / ten years, it looks completely different. That’ll ensure the separation of eras is preserved. That Goodison as it is today will remain a thing of the past - even if the distinction between those two eras is a little fuzzier (as the site is redeveloped) than we thought it would be.

Turns Sunday into a celebration of Goodison, rather than a fully-fledged goodbye. And a statement that Everton are on the up once again. The venue’s new purpose and our increased footprint in the city can be hammered home both on Sunday and in the months to come.

In the end, I think I’m okay with that.

An average of 10,000 would put us second behind Arsenal (who themselves have had half a dozen games with attendances under 6,000 this season) so I think there probably are reasons why we're not likely to see that sort of increase overnight.
No it will take a while.
European football would help.

I doubt it. The last thing they'll want really is for people to continue their old matchday habits, they want to drive business towards the new stadium so making it easy for people to keep eating and drinking where they do now isn't going to help with that.
Stagecoach did announce a new matchday bus route 918 which goes from Kirkby via Spellow Lane/County Road to Bramley-Moore

I think people have a different perception of American business people than me.

This is just cheaper than the regeneration which is why it’s happening.

Great for the women’s game and all that but it’s a financial decision and nothing more than that. They don’t care about the local community or growing the women’s game.

Shame for the area imo.

These guys don't lack capital or access to it. And if they did, they could just sell the thing to someone who would regenerate.

Sure, they are not altruistic, but they're not doing this to be cheap.

What will the capacity be ? Will this be financially sustainable considering maintenance , attendance?

There is zero doubt in my mind that TFG are doing this not only because they think it will be financially sustainable, but because they think it will be financially lucrative. They're not here to run a charity, they're here to make money.

Women's football is a growth industry primed to take off. Of course it's not a big money-maker now, but there's nowhere for it to go but up and TFG wants Everton to lead the way. And, unlike in men's football, there really aren't any structural obstacles preventing the women's team from becoming one of the biggest and most successful women's clubs in the entire world with some smart investment.
