2024/25 Michael Vincent Keane

It actually makes a bit of sense to me mate, cost effective and redistribute funds to attackers, wouldn’t bother me that much for four appearances in the league cup and an appearance here or there.

Be different if we were talking about a Branthwaite replacement.

If you have a back up centre back may as well have one to come in get you a goal.

It only makes sense to me if players like him are happy to take a 50%+ pay drop.

These players are on top 6/7 wages when they should be on 13/15th placed club wages.

It's our one and only chance to get rid of the remaining massive earners who helped us get here in the first place. We simply can't afford to not get rid of them and start finding value for our money and that means wages as well as transfers.

If they were going to offer guys like Keane and Doucoure similar terms, they would have done so already.

I'm ambivalent about Keane. If he signs, he's fourth choice CB at reduced terms. We could do worse.

Let's just wait and see I guess. A lot of footballers (as shown by Doucoures comments) have an ego the size of the Empire State Building and don't believe they should be offered reduced terms.

I'd like to think that he'd leave to get regular game time for his own ambition.

He`d do well in the Championship with someone like Wrexham or Birmingham, who could probably afford to pay him a little bit more than the rest of the league.

Pound for pound he`s one of our worst ever signings and will remain so for a long long time.

I`d love some statto to add up the amount of points he`s cost us since he`s been here, I bet the result would be staggering.

Think if we were interested in keeping them on the same terms we would have done it before now mate.

We need four centre backs. Im happy to buy another one and have Keane as no 4.

If Branthwaite goes we need 2, so id also prefer to keep Keane for ease.

Its just the clever play really IMO.

That said he may get a better offer somewhere else.

We have 3 plus Keane now.

He is nowhere near our worst ever signings (That says more about us than it does him).

We have spent similar amounts on players who did absolutely nothing for us. Keane has at least gave us a few moments and has generally been available.

Still crap of course.
