2024/25 Beto

These 3 posts I think mostly sum the situation up.

Beto's stock will be quite high now.
Hes a player who needs the ball ahead of him
He could net a lot of goals over a full season.

If we've budgeted £30mil for a CF and selling him would add £30mil to that budget -- if we could sign an 'elite' £60mil CF then should we? After all, we could keep Beto and use that £30mil for a top player in another position.

One thing to mention, if we looked at him being 1st or 2nd choice then hes got 2 years left on his deal. Extending his contract spreads out the payments further for PSR.
It is a gamble. There are strikers you may see at 60 mil and take that gamble on. The thing with Beto is you know he will cause problems and score goals and has the potential to improve next season with some actual experience under his belt in the first team. You would have to be REALLY convinced by the player you are bringing in. And it is likely much easier to get quality players in other positions for cheaper. We have to see who we can get or if we even have the pull for a top striker. You'd think other teams would compete for their signature.

And imo we have to see him with better and consistent service. When he actually got the service from Alcaraz last week, he converted beautifully with the header. He caught the keeper napping with an early strike this week. Imo it is much easier to score when you aren't creating every chance by busting a gut from the halfway line outmuscling league defenders.

He’s a 6’4 Beckford.

We need better at the end of the day. I’d get what we can for him but I do love the lads attitude and application.

He’d be absolutely sound as 2nd choice, first sub/rotation if money wasn’t so tight.

I wouldn’t sell him. More game time as second choice next season and I think he gets 10+ goals with a little more quality / creativity around him which is very good for a no2. I agree we need a no1 striker….it shouldn’t be DCL. I suspect that’s why we are interested in Delap.

The problem is though that there’s not many decent strikers around anymore, we could pay stupid money on a gamble and it doesn’t pay off, we’re Everton after all. Look at the money Utd paid for Hojlund and he’s a crock of 💩.

Mate if money wasn’t so tight I’d be there with you.

I think logically it’ll be an extension for DCL if they can and sell Beto to the highest bidder.

We need about 8/9 players we’re gonna have to sell a couple we might not want to.

Yep unfortunately that’s where we are, too many spaces to fill vs the budget we will have. It will need to be really savvy use of the loan market. It may potentially need a big sale as well. Where we focus permanently transfers in however is still in question.
