2024/25 David Moyes

If you'd have shown our fans this the day Moyes took over and told them this is were we'd be going into the Southampton game, they'd be kissing his feet.

Brilliant achievement from the gaffer.

Ahem, I know one who wouldn’t.

Now he has to kick on next season...I think we can all agree on this also.
Yes, he does. Where we differ is I wouldn't wait around to replace him. The job has changed now from what he was hired to do, so if the Friedkins are the visionary owners we're led to believe, I see no reason why they would delay their plan A.

But, let's assume they are more conservative than some of us hope for. Then, Moyes is a good choice for 12 months. My concern is the Friedkins won't be happy with Moyes-level progress once he hits either his traditional slow start, cup exits to lower league sides, or bad run of form where he can't buy a result. They will pull the trigger and we'll be left with Moyes players but a search for a new manager. This falling between two stools has to be avoided like the plague. I can see that happening - and I have no appetite for it.

If he stays on, they need to commit fully to him for the next 12 months. No trigger-finger in November.

Definitely. Especially the people who were expecting him to take us down, see below.

There's no wind up about this. I am terrified about where we're going under Moyes here.

I'd be looking to bring in Southgate if Moyes doesn't get a grip of this in the next few games - if he'd come.

As a last throw of the dice to keep us in this league he makes sense.

He'd have the respect of players and we'd get that bounce we need to get over the line.

He should have been brought in before Moyes.

I can only think he must have been approached and rejected the move.

Cash wise I'd make him an offer he couldn't refuse and for whatever length of contract he wanted.

My only desire is to see Everton safe.

Moyes wont do it
and these players need a boost. Southgate would hand us it. Illd hand these players self belief. And boy do they need it.

If we're not spending...and it looks like that's the case - these players need motivating and I dont see a figure like Moyes being inspirational...in fact he's told those players they are not quality players and we need quality in.

I just think a manager like Southgate could inspire. He's got credibility as an ex-England manager...one of the better ones....and he'd turn a few matches our way.

I could see players wanting to get out on the pitch for him.

We'd be lucky to have him right now.

Then this will be a failure at the executive level. Everton are about to employ a committee on transfers which seems to be about 5 people. If Moyes is dismissed then it is also up to the committee to employ a new manager who can get the best out of the players that we have. We can’t be bouncing around from style to style until we end up with players from 4 different managers like before. The group need to find a philosophy and stick to it. Hopefully they can achieve this.

People who think Everton are going to spend big in the summer are in for a massive wake up call. Money, hopefully well spent in a few areas is all I expect, especially with Moyes at the helm. A centre half, right back and winger will be about it, maybe a centre mid too. With more creativity in a balanced side, I wouldn't be surprised if our 3 striking options are unchanged.
