Cycling thread

So someone has nicked Jeremy Vine's bike, and since the story has gotten out, he's now on the tv news mithering about all the trolling, apparently thousands of messages laughing at him and wishing him repeatedly run over.

Now, he must be very happy with this because blathering on about it seems like a means to throw petrol on the fire.

Who's got a helmet camera? And for that matter, dash cam?

Josh Tarling had a good win yesterday in the Giro TT - short one that he won by one second. He sounded burned out end of last season, which was a little concerning as he's still only 20, but he's been in great form this season.

I've been enjoying TTs on zwift, I remember Chris Boardman saying the answer you are looking for when time trialling is maybe. If you know you can keep up the current pace you haven't gone hard enough, if you know you can't you've gone too hard, if the answer is maybe then you are probably about right

I do quite a bit of TTing - mainly tens, some 25s, very enjoyable after the fact. Great discipline for getting stronger as the objectives are so simple. although mastering power output in position is very technical. Road bike TTs are popular nowadays as people are less inclined to invest in a niche TT bike.

Most countries don't really care about TTing but it has a massive heritage in the UK. Can do club tens most evenings of the week spring through summer, on any bike you like. It's a very distinct culture that you don't see represented in the image of modern road cycling, like a mix of the most advanced, high tech cycling with quaint village halls and an older generation of cyclists who shoulder most of the organisation.

It's good training for going up mountains as well. Both require great pacing and steady efforts.

Done that one a couple of times, a fast course if it's still but I've never done that well on it.

There's one out of Southport on the Preston rd that is meant to be quick - was thinking of getting over to it at some point this season.

A lot of 21yo with a lot of W/Kg, including the pink jersey.
Not so long ago, 21yo didnt participate in grand tours with seniors, them being so demanding and all...
