2024/25 Beto

I thought Jiminez took his alright but i can see how you would think he fluked it.
Think the keeper should do better with Beto's goal personally, that doesn't mean it wasn't a decent effort just felt like he'd done the hard work to dive across and just wasn't strong enough to palm it away. Perhaps caught by surprise hitting it first time, it was a pin point effort like.

Moyes very quickly realized that punting long, straight balls up to Beto was pointless and that he would do best with balls in behind the defense on the deck. Something that was blatantly obvious to anyone watching him. Beto has then rewarded that tactic with more goals than a forward has scored for us in ages. Yes, he misses efforts that he should be slotting and he sometimes looks like he doesn't know what his legs are doing but he scores and we have been desperately short of them. We'd be mad to get rid.

We should let DCL go and sign a new first choice forward with Beto as a good second option.
Except they have been doing it and that is actually an area he seems to have improved

Betos effort should be saved 10 out of 10 times.

But you don’t win the lottery if you don’t buy a ticket

For me, we have to keep him. He scores some, he cares, he's useful, he's under contract. We need to add 10-12 players to replace other dross out of contract players. Doesn't make sense to start replacing useful (most likely economical players), that's a zero sum game and a waste of valuable time that needs to be spent sourcing the other 10-12.

I'd be annoyed if Pickford didn't save that, but my standards are high for him and rightly so he's a superb keeper. Shouldn't take away from the shot that the keeper was a little poor for it, because it still tests him and he hits it well enough and accurately enough.

If Pickford let that in, his thread would be the only one anyone posts in for a week. And rightfully so.

I thought Leno was shaky most of the match, especially on corners.

I didn’t think Beto played well, but for the first 60 minutes he was playing with an anchor around his ankle, and when you score a goal, no matter how fortunate, it ups the grade.

This is the ultimate second guessing post 🤦🏻‍♂️🤦🏻‍♂️. All made up in your head 😂😂
Don’t think so. If Beto is the long term striker solution, we ain’t winning anything, anytime soon.

Who in the top 10 would buy him off us = nobody.

If we want to stay scraping around the relegation spots, sure, gamble on Beto. Nil satis nisi optimum means bye bye Beto.

This is correct

I think the defender connected slightly with it an put it marginally closer to Beto who had little choice but to hit it first time and did it well and deserved that bit of luck Leno presented

I think he caught Leno by surprise and I give him full credit.

Fluked or not it's still gone in and that's all that matters. 3-1 relaxes everyone and we coasted to victory. Every goal he's scored has been important and I'm grateful for them all.
