2024/25 Charly Alcaraz

He always wants to pass forward which is great. He also isn't selfish. It's like he plays for assisting. Players like that are so useful. Play him centrally & feed Beto. It will be frustrating at times but will certainly be more fruitful than Doucoure & Dom.
Thing is with him is altleast room to inprove on things like for example doucoures workrate. Is something that can work on so he inproves his defensive shape after we loose the ball. But agree offers us so much more

Yeah this is my take too. Doucoure isn't going to improve. I also don't think Charlie will ever have the same work rate of Doucoure but he can make adequate adjustments to improve defensively. I think this is also a squad issue too. Better quality left & right backs who overlap & push on will force the opposition back playing into Charlie's hand. When we are on the front foot or on a controlled counter attack he comes alive playing centrally.

You keep saying this but everytime I go in this thread I see you complaining about the prospect of us signing him or complaining about other people talking him up too much. Suggests to me that you do in fact have strong feelings about this transfer.

Personally I think you wrote him off a bit early and are reluctant to admit you were wrong about this being good value for money.

Fair enough, still early to be writing him off though surely? He's had 2 starts and scored/assisted in both.

Appreciate that, think maybe to some others 12m seems such a good deal that not actively wanting to sign him does seem like a strong opinion.

Doesn't help either that you keep talking up Doucoure in comparison ;)

Alcaraz may not be good enough, but anyone who still wants to see doucoure in the team every week has zero ambition and is happy to watch dog awful football and to float around mid table at best

How is 3 goals and 1 assist in 30
Games playing in the number 10 role, more effective

Alcaraz has 2 assists already

Well you seemed to have enough time and inclination to look up Alcaraz’s goal scoring record while on holiday so I didn’t think looking up Dwight McNeil’s would be too hard.

But since you asked, yes I’m more than happy to look it up for you. Dwight McNeil has scored 22 goals in 247 career appearance aged 25.

Absolutely class today (from right before our first went in and he picked their defenders pocket). When allowed freedom centrally he makes the position his own.

Theres always one though...

"Doucoure is more effective"
"I am unconvinced"
"Underwhelming"

and many more delusionally negative comments from @Eggs
