That's a weird take.

As I said, i'm not being critical of the idea, but it seems like you're just completely misunderstanding what was being said to be honest. If 60,000 are around the ground then there'll be problems, it's just a fact. It doesn't mean anyone's deliberately causing problems or doing anything wrong or whatever (although some blatantly will), it's just that loads of extra people knocking around is going to make everything a bit slower, mean there's more scope for issues etc. Some people with tickets probably are going to turn up fairly close to kick off, because they should be able to really, and probably normally do, and may well be travelling from miles away for a kick off at an utterly stupid time so literally couldn't get there any sooner. I'm not quite sure why they must be a clown but someone who's planning to stand outside the ground drinking a crate of stella 'to say goodbye' isn't, but there we go.

It's not a big deal to me, it is what it is and it won't be the first or last time it happens, but just refusing to accept that loads of ticketless fans being around increases the chances of problems occurring is daft in my opinion.
Only major congestion will be when they put that Ginger Bird on an end of match and people rush down to concourse to order 3 pints. Other than that only flashpoint will be fans queuing up to get in street end, if fans get there early enough it won't be problem. It will be busier than usual, but I don't think that will affect safety. With kick off being time it is, fans aren't in rush to get ale in, as they have 8 hours of pub time afterwards. Anyway considering all the nonsense we've been through, points deductions, 777, headlock gate, Benitez and Dyche, this will be a day that Blues with or without match tickets can enjoy. Our last game at GP and not having to worry about relegation. I'm sure you'll enjoy your day and don't have any problems, other than watching Jack Harrison going backwards every time he gets possession and having to listen to that Ginger Bird sing.

I'm going but if you want to say goodbye and haven't got a ticket get your arse up there we've all got memories especially with Loved ones we've lost...get your arses up there nothing was said about the gobshites across the park.. outside or inside this old lady can be appreciated...

Nobody would want to go to that.

What is the actual point of it?

People want to be around the ground. They don’t want to be in a park watching Everton Vs Southampton.
Each to their own.
I personally don't see the point of "being around the ground"
The Ipswich game was my last at Goodison and I have come to terms with that.
Should I feel the need to stand outside and see the stadium again then I'm sure I will. It's not like it's being demolished after the final whistle, It'll still be there for a while yet.

Could have worked with the council to turn Stanley park into one big fan zone and encouraged Evertonians , far and wide, to attend . Great for the city too.
The RS parade will bring in £ millions. Hotels well sold out.
Missed a trick here.
Police will end up closing off County Road like last year, be tens of thousands down there

People will welcome the team bus and be drinking around the ground before the game, once the game kicks off all those without a ticket will just go and watch it in a pub somewhere, there isn't going to be many just stood on Goodison Rd staring in space.

Once the game let's out, everyone will head to pubs or drinking on the road if there's big crowds and police close off County like they have done previous

Nothing organised by the club and police to let the supporters celebrate their last visit to to most historic ground in the country. Just go and leave your last memories of this majestic legacy of a football club that will never be forgotten or beaten.
I’ll be there, no ticket COYB.

….have to say, I have a few safety concerns next week, not least because they involve my son.

Like many, he’s ticketless for the game but insists on going to soak up the atmosphere, watch the game in Goodison boozer then try and get in when gates open. I’m sure there’s thousands thinking the same but stadiums have crowd limits for a reason and we know how problematic crowd surges can be.

Probably being over protective but I’m trying to convince him not to bother attempting to get in and I hope the club are fully aware of this issue.

I think the traveling fans will have issues because let's be honest they don't want to be hanging around for another hour when they could be on the road.

I think opening those gates will cause bedlam.

I suspect that the police will have cleared the immediate area around the ground and set up a cordon to prevent any problems occurring.
