Think the West Ham lad Lanzini didHas anyone else been retrospectively banned for diving since Niasse?
Not the first time we got done out of European football due to other clubs.England losing their sixth spot in Europe in 1996/96 due to Wimbledon and Sheffield Wednesday playing reserves in the Intertoto cup the season before.
Guess who came sixth?
That's absolutely scandalousThis one shows how long and deep the curse is…“An abandonment in the 1904/05 season changed the outcome of the League championship. Everton's match at Woolwich Arsenal in November was abandoned after 76 minutes due to fog with the Merseysiders leading 3-1. When the match was eventually played again, just before the end of the season when they had to play 3 matches in 4 days, Everton lost 2-1. If the original match had been completed (and if the scoreline had remained the same), Everton would have pipped Newcastle to the League Championship by a point. Instead they finished second.”
Finishing 4th only for the RS to win the CL, and us getting knocked out by Villarreal .Couldn’t get more Everton that!
Yes i remember that Terry Venables ,was one of the commentators he was also manager of Barcelona. And him and the other commentater ,always had a knowing smile all the way through the competition.Agreeing to sell Lineker for £2.8m to Barca around the time the '86 World Cup began and him going to go on to win the Golden Boot at the tournament yet still flogging him at the same price when he came home from it when we could've then charged way more.
Nailed onWe'll lose the last home game againstprime Barcarelegated Southampton before any of those.
Also lost to Luton in the last weeks of season and gave away a 2 goal lead in the defeat by Sheffield United.1974/75 season. Everton finished 4th with 50 points (2 points for a win). Derby won the League on 53. Just 4 points off being Champions but we were beaten home and away by the club who finished rock bottom, Carlisle United.
