2024/25 Charly Alcaraz

…I’m totally ambivalent to this lad staying or leaving. Terrific cross for Beto’s goal and it’s good to have a footballer who looks after the ball but maybe we’ve all become too accustomed to standards of mediocrity.

14 goals in 115 games, just 4 in 38 for his parent club. Take him or leave him.

Difficult to judge a midfielder on goals. He seems like he likes to drop deep from time to time to help out, this is where he could have been playing so goals stats don't come into it.

I like what I have seen so far, good on the ball and has a good work ethic. Think he would be an excellent permanent signing for us and one less signing that we will need to fully settle into the team/squad dynamic.

….not in the least bothered by Thelwell factor, I’d be chuffed if he signed the next superstar in Chermiti. I think Alcaraz is ok, I like the lad but I;m not desparate for us to sign him.

On Saturday, we started Ndiaye, Alacaraz, McNeil and Patterson yet apparently had the lowest XG of any team against Ipswich this season. The players posters have been clamouring for, the pre-match optimism yet their goalie hardly had a save to make.
Not a very good argument there tbh.

It's the very 1st time they have played together.
2 are coming back after serious injuries and obviously not match fit.
The other 2 have very rarely started any games this season.

Make take time to adjust and gel as a unit.
First half looked pretty decent .

The fee and wages are squad player level, the player has a shot of becoming far more than a squad player. I think it would be very foolish not to sign him. He may or may not develop into a really good player, but, he would definitely be a good option from the bench or injury cover. We should also take into account that,as he is only 22, we could surely get our investment back on him if we are in a position to upgrade a couple of years down the line.

The type of player we should be looking at this window rather than injury prone ex players and West Ham players with no sell on value

I would be livid if we didn't sign him , he's only 22 and already has ample experience playing upper tiers of professional football. Charly also is nimble on the ball , puts in silky passes and likes to take outside the box shots that don't endanger satellites in space like gana's shots.seems to possess the right demeanor for Everton as well, passionate and committed to hustle for his team

For 12mil this is a fantastic bit of business.

He's 22yrs old has had a good grounding in some very good clubs , been a regular since he was 17/18.
Looks like he can adapt as a midfielder or forward & looks more comfortable on the ball than any of our players. He's got vision and can find team mates with ease.
He's still developing and he will add much more as he gets more settled and matures.

A full pre season and this lad could/ should be flying.

Don't let this one slip Everton .

This.
I think he's a decent player but that's all, and we've been served mediocracy for years now from yard dogs who put in the effort but can retain the ball for love nor money, that the moment we sign one who can do the basics well we're all blown away. For £12m he might be worth it but i do think there will be better bang for our buck out there.

But what jump are you going to go for from mediocracy? We're not gona be shopping at some elite high levels. He looks to have good work ethic and can play. What else do you want when adding players to the squad.

…McNeil? I thought he looked far superior to any other player we had on Saturday.

Anyway, perhaps that’s the standard we’ve all become accustomed to. I just want us to bring in better than we currently have.
He doesn't have to be signed as a starter, it's a long season and a squad game, an area we will be very short in numbers for this summer. I'd want us to sign better in the number 10 role, but for relative buttons and being familiar with the club and settled in now it feels a no brainer for a modest fee.

….every player should be signed with the aspiration of being a starter. There’ll be exceptions, like back-up keeper and even a versatile player like Ashley Young, but we need to build from the top down.

And Alcaraz is a very capable starting player. He's not going to win us the Champions League, we need to buy players to help us get there over a period of time. I reckon you're being deliberately obtuse over this for some unknown reason, you know exactly what people are saying in regards to signing him.
