2024/25 David Moyes

It’s all gone a bit

So the hipsters get their dream of seeing Ndiaye, Alcaraz and McNeil together and suddenly it’s Moyes fault we drew. If we’d played Doucoure and won he’d have been slated for leaving xx on the bench etc he can’t win.

Two of the 3 are back from significant injury and not match fit, the other is a young boy from South America finding his way. It will take months if not years to build strong partnerships and understanding and today showed signs of that.

I’m glad Moyes is tinkering whilst he has the chance, he’ll be learning lots about the players. Also, significant that Broja never came on.. that’s that deal dead imo

Fair post and honest assessment.

Doucoure wasn’t available though, right?

I think it's a better idea when you want to kick start a new era to not appoint somebody that plenty of fans didn't want, and that plenty of other fans will have little patience with. It's going to be the same unrest off and on every week unless he really does something special.

I just want them to show us something different than the crap of the last couple decades and make a good appointment

The idea of “new eras” is a load of cobblers. It’s football, not some sort of esoteric artistic endeavor. Just media spin.

Doucoure would have played though if he’d been available.

That’s the point, the team lose his aggression and tempo when he’s not there.. not saying we want him there, but our team has been so ‘samey’ for so long it will take more than a game or two to transition into a better footballing team. The 3 who played today are too slow, similar and lack aggression to be the long term answer. They can all have a part to play in the team but I have my doubts they’ll be the 3 starters in the future.

I think plenty of fans are delighted in the job he’s done up until now. It’s typical of a society who want everything yesterday, that some fans can’t remember the absolute mess we were in with Dyche and see improvement all over the pitch. Our full backs are putting in crosses for the first time in forever, we’re playing two excellent prospects in central defence, we’re introducing better quality players, having more possession and scoring more goals.. all in the space of 3 months! Yes we ain’t winning the league but, you know, Rome wasn’t built in a day and all that!

Nah don’t agree. We had enough quality to get us 2-0 up. That the players have flunked it from 2-0 up FOUR times this season is not a coincidence, and certainly nothing to do with a referee. The mentality is embarrassing, they are cowards. I’m sure the previous manager constantly telling them how crap they are didn’t do a great deal to help, but Moyes has had enough time to sort that out now so he’s got to take his share of the blame. I’m sick of the sight of all of them.
Only 2nd time ever in PL

Watching us today in that second half make’s you realise just how bang average we really are. Watching Bournemouth here and they are far superior as an attacking unit.

I’m not going to give Moyes jip for this. He’s got what he inherited. A very average squad with about less than half of the players worth keeping.

His best teams weren’t boring. The football between Pienaar Baines Osman Arteta Cahill was arguably the best in our prem history.

You don’t want to be entertained, you just want to win, we all do. People are talking about boring football in the same discussion about throwing away 2 and 3 goals leads. Nothing boring about Everton 2- Bournemouth 3, or Villa 3- Everton 2, or Everton 2- United 2, or Everton 2 Liverpool 2, or Everton 2, Ipswich 2.

You don’t want entertainment, you want to win. If we won 38 games 1-0 you wouldn’t have a single complaint about the football. No fan would. People would start complaining after 2 games though if we had two 4-4 draws.

Fans want results not entertainment.
Nah, the best football we’ve played in Premier League was under Martinez. People do want to be entertained. That’s exactly what Klopp did, he knew the team wasn’t going to win the league when he came in so he played fast exciting, entertaining football to buy him time until he could build a team that could win the league. Playing boring football this time around just isn’t going to cut it.
