Lived in Zaragoza for 6 months when I was a student. Had a great time there. Lived just around the corner from their stadium. Watched them a few times including a 3-1 over Barcelona. They were in primera at the timejust done a trip to Zaragoza very underrated city.
went to watch real Zaragoza in liga segunda, expensive at 40 euro but an interesting stadium.
croatia and dubrovnik are beautiful,i would just be aware that the area will be absolutely rammed during the summer holidays.Anyone got recent knowledge of Dubrovnik/old town area. Looking just a few miles north in Lapad for 5-7 nights with the missus and little un. Enough to do for a week?
Back from Sicily, absolutely beautiful island, especially in spring after a wet spell - wild flowers everywhere and the fields looked green and lush, not the brown colour they become after a hot summer. Etna, steaming and smoking dominates the landscape in the East of the island - well worth the trip by cable car for a closer look. We enjoy visiting ancient sites, and their are plenty around but the highlight was a Roman villa near the centre of the island, the mosaics they have uncovered are superb. Palermo was chokka with tourists, as was Syracuse, especially when a cruise ship arrived. Well worth checking marine traffic to check on cruise ship arrivals before visiting these popular cities. NB no more garrottings nowadays, the carabineri have finally sorted that.Oooh report back please; we're looking into going. Hope you have a ball and don't get garroted or your gut sliced open, enjoy!
A real shame, I am a Turkophile and despite having one or two negative experiences on the flights fully intend to get my annual "fix" of Turkish hospitality for as many years as I can. This year going to South East Turkey, where the earthquake hit a couple of years ago - we were booked to go that year but cancelled as did not seem appropriate to be a tourist when do many people were still in tents etc.…literally just got back from Turkey. These days holidays are all about top quality hotels with great food and booze, we don’t do sightseeing anymore, we go where we get spoiled. Anyway, we found this lovely family hotel in Turkey after a recommendation, so this time we brought our son, his wife and 3 young daughters.
We weren’t disappointed, it was terrific and our Grandaughters loved it.
The downside; the flight from Liverpool was full of half-wits going for ‘Turkey Teeth’ and ‘thick lips’. On the way over we had to re-route and land at Budapest so that a woman who was totally out of control, smashed on drugs and booze and trying to light cigarettes could be arrested by Hungarian police. The trip back wasn’t as bad but full of scroats with teeth like Donny Osmond but gaunt from drugs.
Such a shame, I doubt we’ll ever go to Turkey again. Mrs Eggs and I are off to Cyprus in a few weeks.
Took the plunge and booked just for the 5 nights in August.croatia and dubrovnik are beautiful,i would just be aware that the area will be absolutely rammed during the summer holidays.
prices have almost doubled since they adopted the euro and i prefer montenegro now,its still a stunning place though.
i went to diyarbakir, mardin and sanliurfa just before the earthquake, its like going back in time.A real shame, I am a Turkophile and despite having one or two negative experiences on the flights fully intend to get my annual "fix" of Turkish hospitality for as many years as I can. Some of the Spanish lower league stadiums are sound, I haven't been to Zaragoza's yet, but I recommend that of Cultural y Deportiva Leonesa.just done a trip to Zaragoza very underrated city.

I went to Turkey once, takes about 3 hours to walk down a street with all the lads trying to get you into their shops.…literally just got back from Turkey. We love going to Turkey and will continue to do so, now even better with NS flights direct from CH to Antalya or Istanbul via Swiss rather than Turkish or othersA real shame, I am a Turkophile and despite having one or two negative experiences on the flights fully intend to get my annual "fix" of Turkish hospitality for as many years as I can.
