Runcorn

People are voting for a party led by a man who says the world leader he admires most is Putin.

Their candidate selection guy praised Hitler and Assad.

Their leader is also responsible for the car crash that is Brexit, a notorious grifter and recently made money advising people how to avoid paying tax.

You tell this to reform voters and they respond with a laughing emoji.

Personally I’d bring iq testing in to allow voting.
How long do you recon it will be before there is another petition asking for an immediate General Election after today's results. Not long i'll bet 🙄

I thought that you were a Trump supporter.
Tragedy for the mainstream political parties and the thousands of high and mid level politicians of these parties. Personally I'd far prefer we didn't have to go through this populist revolt. We don't know where it ultimately leads. However, it looks like a populist phase is coming throughout the West.

The US, I think, has the institutions & constitution that can survive a populist in charge. I'm not so sure about the UK. I'm very unsure about continental Europe.

Has that answered my question?

Well no-one is voting for me so I couldn't care less. My issue isn't with how well educted anyone is, it's the fact that these people swallow whatever they read in the media without actually doing simple basic fact checking to understand if it is actually true and appear incapable of critical thinking.
Think you might be in for a shock come next election. Manifesto means nothing,it's all about the social media hits. Labour appear to have forgotten all about the Tories taking the Red Wall and the Brexit vote.

This was always on the cards because of the absolute mess the Tories have left the country in. I said before Labour were voted in that people wouldn't give them time and so it appears to be proving the case.

They weren't given one day because of the Tory-dominated media.
You can't fix the last 14 years in one parliamentary term let alone 12 months.

I do have a bit of sympathy for the most recent Tory government due to the cost of COVID but it's only a bit.
I see people constantly calling them 'Liars' and a 'Disaster' on Social Media but I'm yet to have anyone prove what they have specifically lied about or been a disaster on.

Unfortunately, the people who helped keep the Tories in government for 14 years are all now turning to REFORM and Labour are losing voters as a result of unpopular decisions such as means testing the Winter Fuel Allowance for the wealthiest generation in history.

I've probably written this on here but when it was taken away my father-in-law declared that Starmer was a B$$$$$d. He has always voted Tory though even though he was the epitome of a working class man. He worshipped Maggie because she let him buy his council house cheaply.
He is very comfortable so I said to him that he didn't need it anyway. It would be better off spent on young people. His reply was that he didn't need it but he could have treated his grandchildren.

Immigration/ asylum is also a huge thing for a lot of people. All of whom seem to have selective amnesia and are blaming this on Labour. They have been convinced that the relatively tiny number of people risking their lives in small boats are representative of the overal Net Migration figure and believe this is the cause of all the problems in this country.

Let's get one thing straight, the issue with the asylum system and the housing in hotels and private accommodation is a manufactured crisis. The Tories underfunded and slowed down the asylum process on purpose. It wasn't a necessity to do this, it was a choice. They then used it as a political weapon to create anger and division. Classic Tory gaslighting; create chaos then blame the people at the bottom with nothing 🙄

To be honest, part of me wants it to happen so that when nothing changes and it all gets massively worse I can laugh at all the whoppers that voted them in.

Trouble is, these same people would just find someone or something else to blame. Like Brexit, that has proven disastrous but apparently it's nothing to do with it being a monumentally stupid idea, it's because it hasn't been 'implemented properly' 🙄

The media are ultimately to blame for all the anger and division...and who controls the media...the people with all the money!

It was not the media who upset pensioners, nor did they coin the phrase “working people” which immediately reinforced division with those unable to work together with pensioners who worked more years than Reeves has spent on the planet. Nor was it the media who talked down the economy while going on about “fixing the foundations “ before letting Milliband destroy our North Sea oil and gas supplies while spending a fortune on Chinese solar panels, a country who also happens to be the biggest polluter on the planet. People, all people, young and old and not just working people are not stupid which is why the Tories were thrown out. The people of Runcorn have done the country a big favour by saying enough is enough and hopefully making Starmer reappraise both his policies and his cabinet ministers…..

As we are posting on this thread Reform are taking more local council seats by campaigning on national issues, call them whatever you want but stupid they aren't. Labour under Starmer have been a disaster and it's looking as if the Tory party will be looking for a new leader within weeks. If Trump's tariffs lead to the UK getting a trade agreement with the EU out in the cold then Brexit won't look that disastrous. A week is a long time in politics.

You mean the pensioners who have largely helped keep the Tories in Government over the last 14 years whilst they systematically dismantled the country? The same ones who are now defecting to Reform and will potentially impose those racist bigots on everyone?

Means testing the WFA is absolutely the right thing to do. It's a benefit and all benefits should be means tested. Granted more could/should be done to help those just above the cut-off but the overwhelming majority of pensioners won't miss that payment, particularly with the unaffordable triple lock (but that's another discussion altogether).

All that being said, Labour need to do more to try and rectify the huge wealth inequality in this country and they aren't going to do that by taking money from the middle to lower classes.

The only good that can possibly come out of these Reform gains is that it gives them a kick up the backside to start taking money from the people and companies at the very top. If they don't then Reform will continue to make gains by kicking people at the very bottom.

All the problems in this country aren't being caused by a relatively tiny majority of people risking life and limb to arrive here by boat which is the fundamental basis of what Reform are all about.

This is because they have managed to convince people that all their issues are being caused by immigration and people arriving here in a dinghy.

Housing Crisis - Immigration
Can't get a doctor's appointment- immigration
Can't find an NHS dentist - immigration
Long wait times in hospitals - immigration
Cuts to winter fuel allowance - blame it on asylum seekers being housed in hotels

I could go on...

Why is it that people seem to find it easier to punch down rather than up?

I called the Reform guy and his two mates the C word yesterday at the polling station.

Said I’m getting out of this area if you C’s get control.

Was rather proud of myself.

A guy I know heard it and was doubled over laughing.

Just heard they’ve taken Lancashire county council. It will be fun watching them causing mayhem.
