I'm beginning to think this lot will just be happy to get a bunch of new contracts signed..

So much for 'clearing the decks' I suppose.. :coffee:

I don't there is any basis at present to suggest TFG will adopt a scrimp and save approach to the summer.

Moyes has given reasonably positive indications of what might happen as well.

There will be plenty of activity, we signed was it seven players last summer with no money.

I just expect them to be prudent which is not the same as a reluctance to part with available cash.

The need for investment is obvious. I'm more concerned about who they'll sign rather than the total spent.

This summer marks the start of a rebuild process and they have to do it in a way that provides an uplift and without restricting future budgets.

I think TFG will be cautious but steady. Which would be fine by me.

And I doubt they will want it in the public domain that they are prepared to splash the cash as all that does is hike up the transfer values if other clubs think we are willing and able to spend. We've had our pants down too often when Moshiri was the owner because he didn't understand how the system works and just threw money around like confetti and look how that ended up.

New owners, New Stadium, New Era. I think they will absolutely want to make a bit of a statement this summer in terms of recruitment. I don't believe we'll be going out spending exorbitant amounts on a single player, but I do think we will be spending a significant amount overall on some quality additions.

We will have to look at renewing contracts of some players, more out of necessity than anything, but that's absolutely fine IMO as long as we do strengthen and improve the quality of the squad.

I expect Kinnear will have something to say on this once he is in post, in a few weeks.

Not that he is going to announce a splurge of cash, but it will likely be a continuation of the theme Thelwell was developing, and the use of buzz phrases like "strategic investment".

People are beginning to get a little nervous, and I get that. This is a huge summer and we'll get our first clear signals about TFGs intentions and level of ambition. In part any nervousness is down to the information vacuum which exists currently.

I don't expect we'll do anything in June but I am expecting a busy six week period covering July and mid-August.

I would like our main business to be done by kickoff and leave deadline day to adding loans where appropriate. We should be able be much more aggressive than passive within our budget and have a beefed-up squad that is as ready for kick off as it can be.

We have 14 players either out of contract or end of loan...

Anyone who thought we would be getting 14 new players is crazy. There's a massive balance to be had here of investing in new players and having enough bodies to fill a squad. There's always injuries as well, personally I don't want any more games with 2 keepers on the bench!

Expect there to be at least 4 or 5 players retained if we can. Even then 9 or 10 new players is a huge ask!

3 high profile departures from the behind the scenes recruitment and development team, who all seem to have had the opportunity to stay. Red Kev, Dan Purdy and James Vaughn.
Wonder what they’re hearing that’s influenced their decisions or is it simply coincidence?

In almost every area of the club, TFG has begun cleaning house. But then they let Moyes run the player acquisition and resign expensive, deadwood players with no sell on? They let him operate without the oversight of their vaunted committee-to-be? It doesn't line up. Fingers crossed.

I understand you're perspective. But for TFG to give a short term employee FULL control of the path setting, highly consequential on field rebuild, for me, doesn't line up with their operating model. And if it doesn't line up, then why do they need the committee that's being assembled?
