Goodison Park pitch

Went into the centre circle during the stadium tour with my little lad. Strange tho, because everyone else who’s done the tour didn’t get to do it.

Here's your opportunity

I went on the pitch with a couple of mates after Brian Labone had given us a personal tour of Goodison. He had seen us talking to a Commisionaire (my Uncle) and when he found out we had travelled up from London with a Ukrainian who wanted to see Kanchelskis he invited us to “follow me”.

Being on the pitch makes you realise how big the stands are but also how tight it all is and why Goodison is an intimidating ground.

As we took photos in the Gwladys St goalmouth,Brian Labone asked us to imagine being one on one with the keeper and 50,000 people screaming at you to score and that brings it home.

He took a great photo of us in the St End goal holding a massive Ukrainian flag(it was 1996 and before the last game of the season against Villa).

PS. Brian Labone even said a few words of Russian to our guest which was easily understood. He said he had been there on an England tour and picked up a few phrases which came in handy occasionally.

When I was about 12, my family got to go on the pitch and see the plaque we had placed for grandma and see her ashes scattered/buried.

I was allowed to take home a chunk of grass and I grew it to the ceiling back home in an old plastic everton pint cup.

This Saturday, I’m being allowed on the pitch one last time to say goodbye to my grandma which is amazing by the club.

Still praying for tickets to the game. Trains are expensive and a nightmare so not been up this season yet.

It’s hard to remember much because I was really upset. My grandma was class. Taught me how to play pool, hate the RS and be a blue.

Coventry game.
Bailed out the lower Bullens and did the obligatory knee slide into the centre circle.
Then dug a small square of turf out with my bare hands which I took home and planted it in the garden at mothers with a little fancy bit of a rope/wood fence thing around it. Still there to this day.
Were you in your 50s at the time ? :D

I was briefly on the pitch after the Wimbledon match in 1994, I've never been so nerve wracked and then so elated in my entire life. As an aside I was on the pitch at Headingley cricket ground after the Aussies beat the Saffas by one run (I was with a bunch of Australians and got carried away!) and the pitch was unbelievably springy. Like walking on one of those sprung floors you see in gymnastics gyms. It was very odd.

I knew Andy King (babysat his daughter) and knowing I was a blue he took me to Bellefield a couple of times to watch training (drove there in Mick Lyons Ford Capri!) and then few months later to the match when he was out injured. The players car park was the at the corner of Bullens Road, After parking we walked towards a door which the steward opened. I had no idea that led out the pitch! Next thing we’re walking across the grass towards the dugouts. This is about 10 mins the kickoff and ground is full He was spotted walking and the Gwladys Street started cheering and singing his name. Andy stopped in the middle of the pitch and acknowledge the crowd. The noise was amazing. I’ll never forget that day

Absolutely feral behaviour. I love it.

Yes mate, i played there in 2017, one of them end of season things arranged by Barclaycard i think it was.

It was amazing!

Walking out to Z cars and playing on that pitch was one of my dreams that came true.!!

I was in the away dressing room and i was shocked at how bad it was, there was a council bath in one corner and about 5 showers on the back wall.
The seating area to get changed was literally a hard bench (like Sunday changies) really poor for PL standards or any standard in the professional game

The Home changing room was better in that it had a huge TV on the wall with skysports on and it was little more modern but not much more.

My mate who i go the game with now and have been going with for years played also, he was about to slot in the gwladys street end (I guess to make his dream come true) and came in with this slide tackle on the 6 yard box to block him. To this day he asks me why i had to make that tackle (i regret it now) hahaha
I've heard the away dressing rooms are crap at every ground, gain any advantage.
