2024/25 Abdoulaye Doucoure

He needs to be moved from that ten position he has done pretty well for us there overall, but even if he stays he should be used deeper. We either move Ndiaye there and get some wingers with pace or bring in a new number ten, which I suspect is what Moyes wants. Yes Doucs drops in to make it a three in midfield, he works hard to make us more solid and pops up with the odd goal, but the amount of attacks that break down because Doucs is often poor on the ball is a big reason for our lack of cutting edge and goals, alongside a lack of pace. We need better.

The cover of his autobiography...

In his head he’s thinking, ahhh, inches away from slamming it home there. The rest of are thinking that our sainted grandmothers could have steered that ball goalwards with far superior ease and ability. The bloody galoot.

He's got one final paycheck in his career and it's clearly not going to come from Everton unless he rejects offers from abroad to stay on a significantly reduced salary - and who knows if the club even has an offer on the table for him.

We know that Saudi clubs are willing to sign abysmal players and put them on huge contracts (Jordan Henderson), and a move to a Muslim country would be an easy transition for Doucoure. I'm sure he'll have offers.

If we end up with him staying and Gueye leaving I am going to be absolutely devastated.

He's Everton levels if you want to be 11th/16th levels. But christ i want to move on from giving the oppostion nothing to think about and picking players just for the graft bit. The irony is i think Alcaraz would offer just as much in terms of work and quite clearly offers a bit of guile and possibly as many goals.
I get we're still a team that has to put a lot of mileage in but kick on a bit from doucoure in that role at least. Wont happen. Not first time a managers favourite will always get nod. Wont be last. Moyes will always have a bit of that.

Stated it a million times, not a good footballer.

I often have the argument with people talking about his work rate, which is amazing when he is on it - when he isn't he is a complete passenger because he cant pass, cant control and very rarely can dribble.

He has a knack of scoring goals which is one of the only reasons I presume he is in the team, because the amount of play which breaks down due to him, or the lack of press when he isnt on it, completely limits us as a side.

If he stays, it needs to be as a squad player who contributes from the bench, on seriously reduced terms.

Thanks for the goals Doucs, but need better if we want ti progress

Biggest myth in football is this guy scores goals. He’s had the odd purple patch , like Beto has had. But he’s got 4 since January 24. That’s probably 45 games and he’s playing as a 10 or second striker, what ever position you want to call it. He’s a cart horse

It’s the Steven Naismith effect. Scores in small bundles that are spread out enough to make you think he scores regularly, but when you boil it down he averages 5 a season which is absolutely terrible for someone playing more or less up front.

Outside of doucoure, we've got a midfield full of lightweights. He's in for his physicality. Until we find a player or two that can battle for headers outside of defence, then we'll continue with what we have. There's no point thumping clearances in Ndiaye's direction. There's blue murder being played over our deadball/free kick use. Gana Gueye suddenly Duncan Ferguson? we've been in a battle for survival, it's required battlers.

Saturdays chelsea starting eleven were signed for £520million. Moyes when at west ham had declan rice sold out of his side for £100million. Had paqueta not been down the bookies he was going to city for £80m. We had to sell gordon, we got worked over good and proper for beto, there's a thread about sky tv and other posts made about other sides charging supporters the earth for tickets.

We are demanding champagne entertainment but for lemonade prices. We've new owners, again,

I know a few supporters from a few clubs and the trend is going towards sharing a season ticket, because of the cost, not just for the seat but the rest of the day, travel, parking, couple of drinks.

Eventually the support will be throttled out of attending. More players, more agents, more wages, more departments of football, more directors of signings, more transfer overseers, more tactical litigationists, whilst the cleaners and the tea lady got binned at old trafford.

Anyway, Doucoure at 32 years old or Soucek at 30 years old. We need a bit of muscle, Cal-Lewin is good at winning headers and he's for the off. Tarkowski can't win every header on the pitch for 90 minutes.

Used deeper he'll just give the ball away in even more dangerous positions. Yes he's done well overall in a team fighting the drop, but if we have any chance of progress he needs to be let go.
