This isn’t some great underdog story like Birmingham or Wigan. This is a team bankrolled by Saudi Arabian blood money that has the potential to even further completely derail the sport as we know it. They are part of the cartel, they have bought their way into it. This is not a mighty ducks style heroic underdog feat, this is terrible for football.

Doesn't matter how far they're bankrolled, when they're not allowed to spend the money though, does it?

Football has been ruined for years, and irs never recovered from the greedy 6 trying to break away.

It's why I follow non-League, as you know. But whilst Newcastle winning a trophy may give them encouragement to win more, I'm hoping g if anything it shows our owners the cartel can be broken.

I've never had a problem with Newcastle United and I was happy to see them win the cup. Good on them, they brought in a manager that a lot of our fans were turning their noses up at, and now they have won a cup competition that a lot of our fans seem to think is beneath us. The attitude of our entitled fan-base stinks at times.

They have been allowed to spend it though, look at how much their starting XI today cost without any big sales I can really think of. Tonali and Isak alone were £60m+ signings. Bruno and Joelinton were £100m between them.

Newcastle becoming successful is not some gatecrashing of the top 6. They’ve just bought their way into it to make it a top 7. Them becoming successful just pulls the ladder further up for anyone else, it doesn’t help us.

I wouldn't say no to winning it.

Geordies seem to be very bitter against us, I don't know why. Anything to revel in our plight or say the stadium was rubbish, it's either them or our neighbours.

It was Hobson's choice today. Like having to choose between Gonorrhoea and Diarrhoea.

Opinions seem divided about the significance of Newcastle winning the Carabao Cup for Everton FC.

Some seem nea in the game thread. Others seem concerned about the consequences on the behaviour of the Geordies towards Everton and Evertonians.

What's your view?

Meh

If football fans don’t have a clear cut reason to attack/make fun of others then they’ll create a reason one way or another

If Newcastle weren’t laughing at us over this then they’d find something, and vice versa 🤷‍♂️

It’s because we’ve reminded them about their lack of a trophy / pathetic away followings when they were rubbish in comparison to ours.
