The gabapentin is a controlled drug so they won't issue it early. I normally always put my script in early because my chemist are incredibly slow and I have run out on numerous occasions because of this. So I have to put them in at the right time...

Naproxen was the only thing that worked for me and I think I was on it about 2 years pre surgery. If it’s working for you it’s worth kicking up a fuss.
