He didn’t seem thrilled to meet Trump the other day, so that’s a positive. Not sure about his football ability

A wide eyed young footballer... Full of enthusiasm for life. Soaking it all in. Definitely not chemically enhanced. Cough cough. Irish balls-up more like. Shame (for him not on him).

I don't think anyone really knew who was in charge, which is really the issue.

Don't think it would have worked for us no matter who was in charge tbh mate. Unless both the Manager and the DOF are completely aligned with football philosophy, direction and understanding you end up with the wrong type of players being bought...

This was from a mid 70s matchday programme and a story about Gary Jones (I think). He’s bought a greyhound for £100 (eye popping sum in those days) and took it to a park for its first training run. Let the dog off its leash…. And the dog just...

Bumped in to Tony Grant at some point in the 90's, he'd recently scored a 'wonder goal' though I can't now remember who it was against. If I remember correctly, it was one of those where nobody knew if he meant it or not. I've tried to find a...

Met quite a few over the years at various functions, but 'random' meets that come to mind are Mike Lyons (at a petrol station on the East Lancs) Mike Newell (visiting when I worked at the Hospital) and an elderly but still fit Duncan McKenzie...

Pre season game at Winsford before the 84/85 season. My manager at the time was a friend of Mark Higgins, and got me and a mate tickets for the directors lounge. It was set up to give Sheedy, Harper and Gray a run out before the Charity Shield...

No, he frequented the Orient (his uncle was the landlord), which is at the far end of Speke on Easter Avenue / East Millwood Road. The Fox, or the Dunnies as it now is, is on Hale Road behind the Premier Inn, and from my own experience the...

No, it’s true. From recollection, she was about 19 at the time, and it all started after he spent many evenings drinking in the bar after training. He gave her a lump of money and everything was smoothed over, as the news didn’t go down well.

Dai Davies was our PE teacher for a bit, obviously he probably wasn't putting the effort in that he did as a player but it did let a load of kids in North-East Wales think they had a chance at being a professional footballer. Also there was a...

Firm I worked at in the early 2010s sponsored Crewe Alex so we got 'hospitality'. Thing was, nobody ever wanted to go and watch Crewe Alex so I used to take all the tickets and go with my mates. Bank holiday weekend game, we'd all been drinking...
