If we have an academy player that has the potential to play for England, he should be getting games somewhere to continue his development. He shouldn't be stunted as a 4th choice centre half where he'll likely get only a few minutes playing time.

Also, I may be wrong, but I also think Ancelotti's most played Everton player. A 1 year deal for a known quantity 4th choice CB, when we have to spend wisely on multiple areas of the squad and people are losing their minds.

Everything looks obvious in hindsight. Every player signed by every club in the world could in theory have been purchased earlier in their development for less. It's a weird stick to beat the club with.
