I`ve just realised that I`ve read first book that this is based on by the same name - The Dept Q Series, they`re by a Danish author called Jussi Adler Olson, set in Denmark. It`s a pretty faithful remake, just moved to Edinburgh.

Just finished bingeing it. Really enjoyed the characters and, hopefully, there will be another series. It's certainly been set up for one.
