I agree with that, if he's not prepared to take a substantial drop in wages we should certainly avoid. We've hopefully moved on from offering silly wages though now though and that can be money spent better elsewhere.
There is absolutely no chance on earth that somebody with the ego of Kyle walker comes to Everton to sit on the bench, and nor should we be even thinking about mulling over considering paying him the wages he would want if that was our plan.
It’s not just the premier league to be fair, it’s the world. Same thing happens with tickets for festivals, cricket etc these days. They say it’s for safety reasons, whether that’s true or not I can’t comment but this certainly isn’t an issue...
Its a disaster because we were desperate for the money and our DoF put a stupidly low option to buy on the player
Thats 6m that should of went in our back pocket and didnt
Not sure any transfer we made a profit on could be described as a disaster. He’s not exactly pulled up trees in the Bundesliga so we made a bit of money on a player who would have done nothing for us. Perfectly fine.
Yeah but the point is it looks like he probably wasn't actually worth it. If he'd gone on to be a key player for them then it'd be fair to say it had been a bit of a disaster for us, but it seems like we may have judged his level correctly and...
It looks now as if Frankfurt just overspent on Nkounkou to be fair. He's only started 17 games in 2 years for them and doesn't always make the matchday squad.
Really disappointed that the article in the guardian suggests we're basically only looking at free transfers for right back. It's a key area to improve for me, i'm concerned that either the club doesn't recognise that or the budget is...
I think it can be massively overblown to be honest. And while Coleman is undoubtedly a good bloke to have around, it's hard to reconcile him being a huge influence on performance levels with us being absolutely abysmal for much of the time he's...
Oh God.
The "winner" narrative has started. The following is an inexhaustive list of apparent winners from our recent past:
Gibson
Cleverley
Rooney
Delph
Young
Lampard
Signing players who have won things with far, far, far better clubs when...
I wouldn't be so sure about that to be honest. Families from Walton go on all inclusive holidays, have top end Sky packages, wear branded clothing etc. Rightly or wrongly, people tend to find the money for things they really want. I'm not saying...
You don't have to be 35 to offer leadership though. We've really got to move away from this type of signing, particularly in a position which has been crying out for improvement for 5+ years.
