Maybe more flexibility across the front line another way of looking at it (if they went for both)?

I assume the point he's making is that it would be odd to be looking at players with entirely different profiles as alternatives in the same position.

Yes, that’s why I said ‘was’ rather than ‘is’.

It wasn’t clear though? If it had been clear he’d have signed ages ago, the fact it’s got to this point without a new deal being agreed means it was far from clear.

Yeah and apparently they were, but this is what I mean, united are still regarded as an absolutely massive club and that will still be a huge pull for players. Players will still believe they can win things there, probably far more so than they...

Yeah imagine being concerned about losing your player of the season on a free transfer. So weird right?

They’re one of the biggest clubs in the world. They’re obviously having a bit of a nightmare but the pull that clubs like that have doesn’t just disappear overnight, it’s mad how loads of people really convinced themselves it would.

I like Sunderland. Proper club. Always kept an eye out for your results since I was a kid and I watched [insert former player] score in the FA cup. Best of luck for next season. Except when you play us of course hahaha Look after him lads etc.

It's only 2 weeks until the fixtures are released so if we've asked to play the first couple away you'd expect we'd hear about it in the next couple of days. Cannot see any way at all that we end up playing at Goodison, it's literally like 2...

Yeah pretty standard. There'll be some vintages that are better than others but generally speaking the under 21s is full of people who are already playing at the top level so it's no surprise when a lot of them stay there.

Every year we have a decent chance of winning a cup, it all just depends how the draw unfolds really but there's nothing impossible about winning 6 games spread over the course of a few months. I doubt we'll be winning the league in most of our...

I'm far more bothered about us getting better than I am about them. If 'giving' them £30m makes us better then who cares if it also helps them, it's a proper weird mentality to think differently to be honest.

Centre half definitely isn't a priority, we've got 3 good ones, which is 3 more than we've got in most positions. If Keane doesn't resign we'll need to pick someone up but I think people are massively overestimating the amount of money we're...
  • Lanolin
In general I don't think people really appreciate that wages really hammer you as well. Like I listen to a lot of people, many of them presenters on things like Talk sport who talk about "of course you can get 30m for Rashford" etc. Yes you can...

They’ve realised signing fees are where the money is. Especially his agent.
