That is the perceived wisdom. But what if Lineker had got injured and missed and equivalent number of games? A 40 goal a season striker dictates that entire tactical approach of a team. A goalie doesn't.

😂 That's rubbish. I love big nev but a 40 goal a season striker is way more important to a team than a goalie (even one as supernatural as big nev). The striker dictates the team entire tactics. A goalie can just be slotted in and out.

You didn't talk about him moving position. You said upgrading him. Which I think is a pretty dumb point. Upgrading NDiaye just doesn't even feature in a top 100 of things that need to be improved at Everton at the moment.

He's literally the only player in our team who can control a ball and beat a player. Midfielders and forwards are always more important than keepers and defenders.

I mean, that applies to every player on the planet bar the best in their position. Every fan would be happy with an upgrade. For us it would be monumentally stupid to seek to upgrade our best player when we have Michael Keane as our fourth centre half, no right back, no right wing, a starting...

He our most talented player by far. We need to sign about 15 top class players before we should even think about looking to up grade him. He can get more assists but he is playing in a team where he is pretty much the only creative option and he has no other high class attacking players around...
