Of course it's a motivating factor. If he goes Chelsea and scores 15 whilst playing in the champions league he's easily second choice behind Kane. People have massive blue tinted glasses on what is good for Delap here, he'd start for about 16...
That's the going rate for any good young talent these days. A player like Tom Fellows wouldn't set you back much less, and for me Doak is the much better prospect.
A lot more pressure for a kid. He's quick and agile, not a straight line speedster but great change of direction I think he's a very good but not great player.
