Is the Technical Director role akin to Head of Football Operations? After the appointments of Hammond and Howarth and with James Smith to arrive, that seemed the only position to be filled at this level of seniority.
Also seems with Roma...
My initial reaction was it was a bad opening game for us but there’s also the opportunity to take advantage of one of the very few games they’ll play with Farke in charge.
Seems like good news.
Certainly encouraging that we can get well regarded people to leave their current jobs and join us.
On paper at least TFG seen to have gone about their work well so far.
Onto the real test now.
Tough first game, but they are all tough to a degree.
We have shown real promise in away games under Moyes.
First home game is a huge occasion no matter what the opposition and it's definitely a winnable game for us.
Really looking forward to...
Well, you’re certainly interpreting what paid-for membership offers in the way the club’s commercial team would like - but I’m afraid it’s transparent cynicism from my point of view.
Don’t get me wrong, I understand the club’s perspective, and I...
Always admire players who go off and experience the world. Could’ve come home and played championship footy but off on another adventure, good luck to him.
Seems to be happening a lot more. Loads of these academy players who are wasted at City/Chelsea etc, are happy to go to Germany, spain and Italy and make it work. Absolute respect to them.
The timing makes no sense. But here, the Director of Football role has been abolished (I assume that was as a result of a TFG review) so if they think it doesn't work anymore, maybe they'll go to a "flatter" structure such as what Everton now...
We need a lot of players in a lot of positions. No doubt we know what we can spend now and have targets in other areas of the pitch. If this is a short term stop gap so that we improve in other areas, and then NEXT season we find a replacement...
I wouldn’t mind Walker, but only if he’s part of a raft of signings. Of different ages and levels of experience.
If Walker’s indicative of our approach this summer, then THAT’S what’d be disappointing.
This will be an incredibly unpopular opinion but it's because of Coleman. His value to a succession of managers as a bridge between the coaching staff and playing staff, it seems to me, has made them reluctant to seriously look at replacing him...
Kinnear has a key role in transfer strategy as a balance to Moyes and a support to the recruitment specialists. He should not be telling anyone which specific players to buy but he should be making it clear:
1. How much total we can invest in...
I think the fee if reported correctly, is too much.
Am slightly uneasy about signing him assuming interest on our part.
Whether we will or not who knows but you make some good arguments there.
You can find reasons to sign absolutely no one and...
