Watched the match. None of it is concerning. For clubs like Blackburn, it’s a good test for them and they seem to put in better effort. I felt like our strikers and midfield were playing 1/2 to 3/4 pace. The main goal for us is to work up to 90’...
@Tofeenut entering his supervillain era, trolling the dejected blues on what was once hallowed turf for him.
The Iheanacho debacle was clearly the catalyst.
We don’t have the kind of budget that gets deals done immediately mate. Look at what United are spending to get players in early. Would be nice to have them in now, like, but the right players will usually mean some combo of fighting off interest...
It means "something". Its a chance to learn some things and try new stuff whilst getting fit and integrating players into the squad.
The results don't really matter though.
There’s never been a correlation either way but heads will fall off regardless.
We have a small squad as it is, with a couple still yet to return, so we are never going to be going full pelt at this stage. Would it be nice to be a bit less crap...
I never watch pre season games - Everton test my blood pressure August-May, they're not having my June-July too.
Avoiding injuries really is the main thing, but 0 goals from open play Vs Accrington and Blackburn - not that it's needed to tell...
Nobody should ever care about friendlies. Remember when we literally put 20+ past a team and then went on to be crap? Means less than nothing.
The window IS open until 1st Sept, though, and these hypothetical “last minute sticking plasters”...
Are we seeing the Everton cycle that is old as time itself?
1. Lose pre season games but “it doesn’t matter because it’s all about fitness”
2. Struggle to fill known gaps in the team but “it doesn’t matter because the window is open until 1st...
I think it's mostly because the way we played last season going from 4-2-3-1 to a 3-4-3 mid game really works when O'Brien is playing. It's why Mykolenko was miles more attacking after Dyche went.
