I agree on the PL experience but demanding the players we bring in adhere to certain parameters is a hell of alot different then going above the DoF head and bringing in a player like maupay. I just genuinely dont think that happened.

Thellwell spent 60m on Maupay, Beto and Chermo and was rightly sacked for gross misconduct.

Personally if your saying that the DoF had nothing to do with one signing then he had nothing to do with any signing and vice versa. I couldnt stand kenwright but theres no way he went "we need a striker, lets bring maupay". I dont believe that...

It’s funny because you were saying that Thelwell had absolutely nothing to do with the O’Brien signing. Until he actually started to look a decent player, and then it was magically all down to Thelwell.

Shame, was hopeing hed stay as back up. But thought it was a long shot because why be a back up here when he could he a bench warmer for a team in Europe.

He was the director of football at the time he signed him. He had to agree to bring him in. You cant praise him for bringing o'Brien in then say he had nothing to do with maupay
