The disaster wouldn’t be selling him, the disaster would be wasting the money. Spend it right and it could give us a leap forward.

This is the type of headline grabbing , "marquee signing" that would have appealed to the Moshiri / Kenwright axis. I have similar reelings about the Stones rumours. For those reasons alone , I hope that we have learned from our mistakes , and...

A three year extension is a bit of a surprise. Usually it would only be the really highly rated young players who would get three years.

I don't think that's quite true. He played one game in centre mid for us in a pinch as we had a slight injury crisis. He was pretty much always a centre back for Sheffield United. His brother was a centre mid I think.

As an Irishman, I followed Grealish's early career with interest. The moment I saw him - a good decade ago now - on the front cover of an Irish tabloid face down in a pool of his own vomit was the moment I knew he'd never be what he could be...

However, Chelsea do have a stock of some really good young players they probably will never get to play. It is a different scenario to having some old over the hill player pushed onto us. He is going to leave at some point probably and with...

Although still very young, his career has fallen off a cliff. Any team taking him on are taking on a large risk. The current Brighton manager sent him out on loan after barely using him up to Christmas. Brighton are a selling club anyway but if...

My memory is that it was Di Zerbi who brought him through more than Potter.

Not 22 until the end of this month. A loan next season to a good championship club would make him or break him. He would be back , still a young player, and may be ready then to play regularly for us. Next season he will probably just some...

The Ferguson situation is strange. Certainly all the attributes are there to be a top striker, more than Delap in my opinion, but something seems seriously wrong with his career at the moment. I expect that DM would still have enough contacts at...

Branthwaite is playing every week , gaining experience and admirers. He has plenty of time to move to a different club in the future. Sitting on the bench somewhere will not do much for his career and as good as he is he still does make mistakes...

If anyone couldn’t grab a programme on Sunday from Goodison, I have some left over. I can post them out at £15 including postage.
