Also troubled the defences of the top teams when he played against them iirc.

Say what you will, Ashley Young gives more to his club than many players half his age. He stays fit and match-ready. Even now, he stabilized us a number of times. He seems a class act and I wish him all the best 💙.

He can hold his head high for his time here. Nothing but professional during a horrible period for us. He leaves with my thanks. The time is right though.

…turns out there was plenty of unnecessary angst. Young has been very decent for us, terrific professional and played for us as though it mattered.

All good points. I think both Coleman and Young are being retained because of the reasons you give. Helping a new squad to gel together.

Reactionary folks like usual, most will end up calling it by sponsor name in some form eventually

Unprecedented for Everton is what was probably meant.

….Coleman was always going to be here, we wait confirmation about his role. I don’t think it’s sentimentality, particularly in the case of Young. It’s a period of major change, be it owners, new stadium, new organisation and new players and I...

Agreed. It is clear the positive impact that both Seamus and Young have with the players. Moyes does not want to lose that at a time when a lot of new faces come in.

blueblue replied to the thread 2024/25 Seamus Coleman.
We need to see the structure of the deal when it happens. Seamus has a huge influence within the squad, that is clear. If he stopped playing and became a full time coach then that changes his position in the dressing room. Even though he has...

Fine with a coach, player role tbh

…the reality is, the squad has been mismanaged with no continuity plans and so many players out of contract at the same time. We all want to see new players but we also need numbers. I’m thankful we stayed up otherwise we’d have been in serious...

blueblue replied to the thread 2024/25 Ashley Young.
The influence of older players like Tarkowski, Coleman and Young is huge in a squad. There will be lots of new faces coming in, having some seasoned experienced older professionals to help them settle will be very useful. I think that Young will...

If you are going to bring in a plethora of young talent - new to the club, i want them learning of the habits and standards of someone like Young. ;)
