Given the way transfers work these days I doubt we wouldn’t have sounded out the player first….

He'll be on more wages. Could try his luck as first choice in championship for considerably less. But it's a short career and this contract will probably set him up for life.

I meant 'we' as in Everton rather than me and you. I'm hopeful someone there has a grasp on the resources we have to play with.

True but that's not helpful unless you know the original budget ( which obviously we won't know).

I guess the more boring deals are the easier ones to get over the line. At least we now know how much of the budget has been used.

Talented player but comes across as an absolute helmet.

Definitely need to get a good start and can't just be throwing away August again. Signings will help but so will a decent preseason and not just having the lads do 12 gaffers day's.

Worry for me is that we don't get the key players in before the first game and like the past few seasons we forfeit the first couple of games and look so off the pace and disjointed. Be refreshing if we do get the main targets before the Leeds...
