How did you get to have your attitude? Genuine question. Are you a wool?

What absolute tosh that is. I’m a wool and a I’m a proud republican. My mum’s from Liverpool and although of Irish Catholic background, it’s a fact the city has a very strong section of monarchists, just look at the history of orange lodge marches for a starter. Then you have areas like Garston that were electing Tory MPs up until 1983 (I.e they actually voted for Thatcher). Even Wavertree voted for Thatcher in 79. Crosby was Tory up until 97. With regard to working class areas, I’m guessing they voted Tory because they were fairly unionist and pro monarchy. So let’s stop pretending that Liverpool has always been some socialist republic and leave us wools out of it.

The anti monarchy types are a minority, there just noisy, so they think they are the norm.
Interesting you mentioned the Orange Lodge, were are these Anti Monarchist then? Nowhere to be seen, they know there out numbered in Liverpool

I’m not saying there aren’t many republicans in Liverpool. I’m a republican (albeit I’m a wool). Liverpool probably has more republicans than other cities due to the large number of Irish Catholic migrants (of which I’m descended). Outside of Ireland, St Patrick’s day is probably celebrated more in Liverpool than any other city.

I’m just pushing back against the notion that wools are monarchists and that Liverpool is a bastion of republicanism. The truth is more complicated than that and the city has its fair share of monarchists.

I can’t attend tomorrow, but for what’s it’s worth I would respect the minute silence etc if I was going.
