I'm half Welsh myself.

The press hate Everton of that there is no doubt
They are waiting and would love us to boo and show a lack of respect towards the monarchy. Gives them a stick to beat us with.
I think we should observe the silence and not give any excuse towards the scum media we have here.
Let’s do what needs to be done get behind the team and get the points.
I wrote this this in the preview which sort of fits in with what you’re saying above.

Nearly made the preview without talking about a proposed remembrance as truth be told I’m not that arsed. So it’s no sweat for me to not be arsed for a minute or so while some who are arsed pay their respects or take some comfort in it. Can anyone be arsed the tedious pantomime many in the media may want it to be? You choose your flavour though, I’m just here for the footy.

Although I seen someone say who cares what the media think they’ll write what narrative they want regardless, which I thought was a decent counterpoint.

And that’s the thing - it’s gonna be a very individual choice. Whereas I’d rather lean to being considerate for others feelings, some will feel aggrieved at being silenced in their own city which is mostly anti monarchy. Many who are pro monarchy have been rightfully talking up being proud of their free and open society, so by those metrics should they understand people’s right to free speech and protest?

It’s a spider’s web of hysteria where one strand being pulled will irk whoever is on the end of another strand. However rather than it being all negative I think there’s a huge majority in the middle moderate part of the scale, nor particularly liking the monarchy but willing to keep quiet for a few moments for the greater peace.

In an age or every emotive issue being polarised it’s nice to see some reasonable consensus at least.

As I’ve said above though everyone should just do what they think is right. I’m just made up for this antagonistic thread got beyond 40 pages, and to be fair you’ve debated it well. Progress indeed @GrandOldTeam

I'll be staying in the concourse until all the kerfuffle is over. I was at the Stoke game after Kennedy died and someone shouted Khrushchev during the minutes silence. He got taken out by the police.
That was because Stanley Matthews felt dissed. The day was all about him.

Will always remember driving into Old Colwyn in my old car with a broken fanbelt. It was a Sunday and I rolled into Braids garage where some mechanics were playing cards. The conversation went as follows: Are you open? Reply:Are you English? Reply: Yes. Reply: In that case we are shut.
It sort of confirmed my old grandad's opinion of the Welsh which would not pass the GOT censorship rules. Mind, they can't all be that bad? I know one very nice one.

I bet you went into a pub too and they all started speaking Welsh when you walked in.

I've got some really good friends from Wales, top people, but they warn me to keep my head down / mouth shut in some places if we drinking. Destructive bell ends transcend race and ethnicity.
