Todd Boehly. A man...who wants an all-star game.

I know that, what I'm saying is you don't do it because you don't have to. It happens organically.

What you've said about the lower league clubs is what I mean, you can define it as being about the club visiting but the draw is ultimately that the club is good at football and so the players are important in that equation. I reckon if you told Sutton we were putting out the u21s they'd not show up the same.

They probably would mate. Better chance of an upset. The records will show they beat Everton. And they might get United away in the next round.

Blimey. I actually agree with every word.

No idea if the NFL, (Merican Football?) have pre season friendlies, but when they play games in London, tickets fly off the shelf. No matter which teams. I guess thats similar, cos even if it was a pre season, the tickets would sell just as well.
The NFL does have those. They don't sell all that well, and at much lower prices than the regular season, but they do sell.

Baseball does a little better with that, by having spring training in the same places every year (Arizona and Florida) and giving fans in those places the opportunity to see the players. Attendance is maybe a third to a quarter of typical gate, but the clubs collect good prices for those tickets for quite a number of preseason games.

Ka-ching!

Haha, same, but it's not unreasonable, Iguanaman is a bit weird but reasonable (at least when he doesn't have me on ignore lol ).

Yeah, but that's just it - if it's an ASG in the summer then we'd have teams be a lot more iffy to release players to go play a random friendly a world away just as a showmatch, unless they have the prep there (a-la friendlies currently).

Your example of NFL teams is the same for Europe when they come around, a team with the idea of a showmatch, not the 'best of the league' kinda deal.

And btw I'd love to see Lebron play with Bruce Brown or all the randos lol But tbh you can easily get that for international games but that's a different story...
Then again we had Bron already carrying a team of nobodies when he was at Cleveland, so this has already happened lol

I would bet that the Spurs ground would sell out for an NFL friendly. Same as the PL in Merica would. Well, do.

The NFL preseason games would do a lot better if they played them away from the normal home stadiums!

Just watch the Lakers this year if you need a flashback.

The NFL gets away with weirdness because the NFL isn't a completely fair league to start with. 17 games, random schedules and one game playoffs where dumb stuff happens and swings the season. Football can't really do that.

I think it’s just better to keep Americans away from any strategy or decision making in English football. It’s their commercialisation and bastardisation model that’s helped yank a sordid gap between fans and their clubs. American business people have little appreciation for history and tradition, generally happy to forgo any fan sentiment to just grind out an extra dollar. They merely see fans as customers and expendable.

I can empathise really as they don’t get what European sports are about as they run a franchise model where the club doesn’t belong to the fans and community but instead to the richest person that can afford it.

Boehly should keep his cake hole shut about the English game and just ruin the club he bought out of sheer ego and opportunism.

Hard pass, only watch them when they play my Mavs, but then again... my Mavs are a 1 man team anyway.... Sad sports times for me I suppose :(

The FA Cup says otherwise to be honest, but on a different scale as it's about 50000 teams starting at the same time and all that.

Dear God, that team was bad. LeBron nearly averaging a double-double with points and rebounds in the playoffs was absurd.

He was absurd as a sportsman during those times... I mean still is in a league of his own (current players; Jordan and him if we look back), but jesus those days he was just unstoppable. Even in Miami, just brute forcing when he feels like it.

Don't sleep on Christian Wood and Dinwiddie!

The NFL has one trophy that is essentially the FA Cup is the thing. When they propose moving real matches around again I'll be wholly against that. All star? Eh it could be fine.

It wouldn’t, it’d be crap and the players would all absolutely hate it.

This is the dream! ?

Honestly, I'm happy for both being here as they will fit, but the gulf in quality between our best and 2nd best player is shocking. Lukaball to the end I guess.

Different dynamic and prep for both sports as well to be honest, schedules etc.

As I said - people here would be very much "Charity Shield" about it, but there will probably be some foreign fans.

Also what @chicoazul said obviously.
