Football teams play each other twice a season, year after year after year after year and it makes absolutely no difference other than to the extremely narrow lens of people interested in that ongoing carry on.

The Head of State of Britain very rarely changes and is a lot more historically and culturally significant than a weekend of football fixtures.

Quit your moaning.
What shall we do when Halley's Comet comes around? Linear thinking mate.

I wonder over time what will it have meant for football matches to have been played?
What of the Celtic fear? What is to happen when we sing Lizzy's in a coffin.

I wonder how many football matches across the country would have both God Save the Queen and a dizzy lizzy
what of all the humanity that doesn't get to breath here.
are we that fearful?

I'd have no doubt Britain would come together through its football as well, and the Irish after all know their respects.

Looks like football will resume from Tuesday.
Bur policing may affect next week's games

Radical thought. Bearing in mind the Monarch is here/was there, to serve us.

How about the PL/Police say that they cant police the funeral till Tuesday, cos they have to police the footie?

We gave up this weekend out of respect. Respect is a two way thing.
