Add a forward to Gana + Garner tomorrow and in terms of business alone, it would be hard to criticize them overall and I thought this window had carnage written all over it. We need that one extra though. Still too light up top for me.

Would have liked Kudus and another forward but looks a little too much at this stage. Agree adding another forward would round off a decent window, albeit a little too late that’s caused us to lose/draw winnable fixtures.

Gana and Garner are effectively done. Very good to see that we’re apparently looking at another forward on loan too, think if we basically can focus all of tomorrow on that then we’ll end up with someone, we’ll see about this lad from Villareal if not him then there’s plenty time for others, loans are fairly easy to get over the line compared to permanents.

Overall I think at the start of the window if you told us all we’d be getting Tarkowski, Coady, Vinagre, Onana, Gana, Garner, McNeil, Maupay and Chukwueze as well as Patterson coming in as effectively a new signing and the only single contributing player that we’d lose would be Richarlison then I think we’d have all been delighted. That’s effectively a full new team along with Pickford that would probably do quite well on its own never mind the fact that we’ve got good players like Godfrey, Mina, Coleman, Holgate, Myko, Iwobi, Doucoure, Gordon, Gray and Calvert Lewin still in the squad too when they’re all fit.

First time in a while that we’d have had a squad of 11+ good players never mind proper first 11 and bench options too.
We are lacking stardust. A quality technician as a squad option would have been useful. Iwobi is much improved but to rely on him over the course of the season to be your creative hub is a big ask. I do acknowledge the risk though of bringing in a bad character into the ranks
