Very sad news this, especially given ongoing events:


RIP
A good man who changed the world we lived in.
Those in power today could learn a lot from him.

True, but don't tell that to a Russian. Time and history will smile on Gorby, I hope.

He didn't have much of a hand and he played it better than many others would have. Then the coup leaders beclowned themselves and Yeltsin became a hero before he became a fool. Then the looting of the state. So very much looting. So very much state. So very drunk Yeltsin.

I imagine he'd say he's surprised to have made it through in one piece. RIP. Talk about the before times, those were the before times.

There's negative sentiment towards Gorbachev from within Russia because in their eyes he helped to facilitate the decline and collapse of the USSR.

As popularity for the ol' Soviet empire grows, it's not surprising that their view of him would lessen, which is a shame because he did so much good.
