Messymascot's faith in humanity and ginger safe haven

Awoke to cloudy skies and light rain.

I was having a lovely sleep until Rosie got me up wanting a poo.
It's a long story but .....yesterday was the summer dog show fundraiser . Mrs J was making a mountain of sandwiches and triying to feed the 5000.
I had to do the gate at Lydiate on my own as Mrs J had agreed to look after all the animals at the sanctury whilst everyone else was at the show.
So, she made the sandwiches etc , the kitchen was a mess and we started loading my car with the food, in between times Rosie , quick as a flash , managed to get the leftover cheese from the work surface ( there was a lot ) and in about 20 secs that we were away ate the lot. She wasn't sick but cheeese disagrees with her and she gets the runs - as I found out last night when she woke me up - fortunately she made it outdoors first - too much info with your cornflakes ? Sorry.

Ok back to the show. Perfect weather for it sunny but not too hot for the dogs. Never seen it busier and as usual with my charm and wit I was on meet and greet and trying to get as much as possible off people as they came in. Anyway no one told me that we had a celebrity judge for the dog show. There was a queue of cars trying to get in and I was trying to get them in as quickly as possible , inpart info and get loads of money off them . Sounds easy but it's actually quite hard to be so nice to so many people - at least I find it hard ! Anyway this really glamourous woman gets out of the 3rd car in the line and goes to get into the show. I'm thinking - she's vaguely familiar but wayyyyy over dressed for a dog show........

Me; "Sorry , there's a queue but I will get to you as soon as I can "
Her ; "No I'm judging the show"
Me ; - with a smile - " You're late it started 10 minutes ago ., you'd better get in there !"
Her; " I can't run in these heels!"

Turns out it was ................Tricia Penrose off Heartbeat ! That will mean nothing to @Sassy Colombian and anyone under 40 but some of you may remember her.

She was actually lovely when we had a laugh and chatted later. Anyway it was a good day - we raised over £4k and I took £950 on the gate so happy days all round.

Must admit we were equally knackered when we got home though. And Granny helped out looking after the escape artists Tintin and Rosie.

You will note that I have assiduosly avoided any Everton chat. We had the table tennis club do on Saturday and a couple of the lads came along after the game. They weren't very complementary about our performance and prospects for the season so I'll leave it at that . PersonallY I think everything depends on what we do in the transfer market in the next few days but as we all know are hamstrung by our financial position but I will leave it at that in case I upset any of my chums on here. With the train strike I had to get a bus to Southport - first time I've been on a bus for 30 years - it was a really pleasant experience .

So, bit of a restful day - off to the gym ,a bit of light gardening and then a 90 minute yoga session tonight. Don't think I can bring myself to watch the United / RS game. Yes it's hilarious to see United imploding and at least they are worse than us , but the RS will benefit from their incompetance and that's not something I want to see.

Have a lovely day everyone.
Wouldn't it be lovely if they beat the RS ,a man must dream. I watched the table tennis a few nights ago and was shocked at how fast the game is now !or is it just me ?

Morning guys, just having a catch up, not had the best start to the week, they've just rang and cancelled my health check this afternoon, really awesome, I'm struggling and they just take their time, not happy, this is the second delay now and I will probably have to rearrange the appointment with the Dr now ffs.

Then this morning I have noticed my fridge has conked out, it is only 4 years old nearly. I can't believe my luck, I've literally just took a loan to buy a new vacuum because that cheap one was terrible and I need a good one, less than 2 weeks later my fridge breaks down, in the last two years I have had to replace washing machine, cooker and freezer now the fridge ffs.

Yeah, feeling a bit stressed, not worried about the footy, we'll be fine we're so much better than last season but no striker, hopefully that will be rectified and we can put relegation bollox behind us. I was actually embarrassed Rondon was starting a Premier League game for us, god awful player.

Over to you Kevin
It might sound stupid asking this but it is not just the bulb is it ? Fridges last forever normally , if you need one try something like a charity shop or Facebook marketplace as there are often freebies and a fridge is a fridge ,unless it is the wrong size fridge !!
Lots of people just want to throw away old ones and another idea is a visit to an electrical shop ,to see if they have any out the back .Just tell them you want to take the compressor out of it for another project .
I went into a cycle shop and played the old pensioner who has lots of projects and no money to get a wheel and walked out with two for free .
Stay strong .

You're having a tough time of it mate aren't you. Think AT came up with a good idea to see if there are any charities that could help with the fridge. Or you may be able to get a cheap second hand one on something like Facebook. I guess the problem you have is that you need one urgently. Hope you get it sorted soon T, and your health check.

The site owner should hold this community up as what can be achieved if we really try, and allow trusted posters to hunt down nasty posters like dogs.
It is a many people say "When you are nice to others it helps you with your own problems ".There is one problem on here in that it is so easy posting that the outside world is looking more and more uncivilised by the day .
It is a special place that is a tribute to a special young man . I said it just after we lost him that he was the person I admired most of all the people I have never met .
That still holds true ,a superb lad who is still very much missed by all lucky enough to have crossed paths with him.

It was the being able to hunt nasty posters like dogs thing that sold you right.

No the bulb is still on, milks off, freezer box has defrosted, must have been like this a few days or it was turning on and off because, milk went off last week but I never thought anything of it but milk went off yesterday as well, when I checked all the above had happened. I'm, sure I'll get sorted, always do, even if i have to struggle financially for a bit.

No , it's a quick game.

That's the problem ! I can still play all the shots if and when I can actually get to the ball.

As we get older we not only slow down but our reaction time diminishes too.

Still love trying to compete though.
