Can he do his job properly and manufacture the departure of two or three overpaid wage thieves from the books that his predecessor was completely incapable of? It would help.

And where do the goals come from? We still can't seem to have a balance in our squad, after so many decades really.

Unfortunately it's not like being a dodgy used car salesman, you can't dress it up to the buyer, they know exactly what the player can do.

Given that you try pitching Mina to anyone, "he's tall, powerful and if you are really lucky you might get 3 full games from him in a season - all for the best part of 5 million quid in wages."

Likewise Gomes. "If you need a player who will collapse as soon as the going gets good to firm then he's your man."

Michael Keane, "own goal specialist and world record holder for running in treacle".

Tom Davies...erm...

Well it’s going to take more than one window to sort that legacy out, but he’s made a good start.

If he gets a decent striker in between the second and third game of the season then I'll applaud his work on a very tight budget, currently at about -£20m.

If he doesn't bring in a striker completely then he's every bit as bad as Walsh and Brands.
