For me, no.

Theres been a hell of a lot of progress in football recently with Rainbow laces, lots of positive pride stuff. Everton has been at the forefront.

Signing this player is not a good fit.

If he was on the pitch burning rainbow flags or queer bashing I would agree. But his beliefs are his own and he's entitled to them. Is Islam homophobic? Are you saying Muslims shouldn't play football? Or they can if they wear rainbow laces? Don't really understand your point. He's allowed principals and freedom of speech but only if he agrees with what you think right?

Gueye can come out and explain himself the way Zaha did and I imagine if he's got a compelling reason people will be fine with it.

As is I'm not sure he gets the benefit of the doubt.

This really, if he was out lurking in the dark waiting for kicking out time at the Lisbon so he could lay some brass knuckles on them just because of their sexuality then that would be a different kettle of fish. Obviously that is the extreme and we all would feel as disgusted if he was campaigning for discrimination, or shouting abuse at people.

If his attitude is live and let live but he just can't/won't show support because it's against his beliefs then why are we trying to promote tolerance with intolerance?
