Another thought on the topic.
If I'm correct the faggots came in a foil container covered with a cardboard top. You were supposed to release the edges of the card from the foil but leave it in place. Then in the oven for what seemed like an eternity. On more than one occasion the card almost combusted before the product was hot enough to eat.
